These are two GREAT pickups and they will get really good in a hurry (imo).
Russ won't be in Happy Valley much longer? Hahahahaha. We've been hearing that for the past 10 years at least.
Really good all around news for thw team, the staff and for Pritchard and Rollins. Win,win,win.

"Whenever I saw" is not a good way to evaluate passers. Rollins' ball control was almost as bad in 2019 as it was this year. She has been one of the worst full time passers in the B1G for two years now. I'm optimistic for her at PSU because I think their staff does a better job of coaching passers but to suggest Rollins has been an "above average" passer is not accurate. Russ is a legend and arguably the greatest head coach in college vb history, but respectfully what passers have they done a good job with outside of White the last 3-4 years? White, Holcomb, Frantti and Leath were all good passers. Hampton and Bilinovic passed better than any Minnesota player this spring. The Gophers have not had good passing since 2017. |

Russ is a legend and arguably the greatest head coach in college vb history, but respectfully what passers have they done a good job with outside of White the last 3-4 years? White, Holcomb, Frantti and Leath were all good passers. Hampton and Bilinovic passed better than any Minnesota player this spring. The Gophers have not had good passing since 2017. Yep, when MN lost goehner they lost their passing. |

I've seen a lot of people questioning passing and making shady comments about OH depth in Happy Valley after the transfer news. Here a my thoughts...
1. Rollins and Pritchard both had a heavy load to carry on their previous teams for a variety of reasons. Rollins is a solid passer imo regardless of the numbers and I think she will confirm that this year. Pritchard on the other hand will not have to carry the same responsibility and in turn will be more effective because she will be on a more well rounded team with better coaching.
2. Blossom, Bilinovic, Rollins, and AC will make solid back court for next years team.
3. Adding two terminal OHs will also improve the numbers and production of Jonni, Hord, and Gray.
4. This team will have weapons at every position on the court AND with the addition of a PV top 100 6'0+ setter in the recruiting class he will be able to sub for a taller blocking setter at times against teams like Texas. We will definitely block alot better with more height from pin to pin
5. I AM SUPER EXCITED TO SEE WHAT CAN HAPPEN NEXT YEAR

Her worst matches this spring were against the best B1G teams including a -.037 match against Nebraska on 26 swings. If you accept that Parker and Pritchard will play OH are you going to put Fitzpatrick on the bench? I don’t see this transfer working out well. Pritchard probably will...but it’s clear Russ is scrambling to be relevant again before he walks away. . . To me, adding Rollins appears to be a needlessly desperate move. . . Well, if we can't pass well, does it really matter if we improve termination at the pins? It doesn't hurt, but... it doesn't address our most glaring problems. But, hopefully this gets us back into legitimate contention in the conference. If we don't win a conference or national title in 2021 we're in trouble heading forward.
