Why can’t I help but feel like the Gators are about to nose-dive to the bottom of the SEC? Stucky HAS to have one foot out the door, right??

Kelley in the portal..... Whattttt, not trying to be rude, but it might be time for Mary to hang it up. That's just too much talent just to not be making final 4’s, winning a natty, and losing players like this.

Why can’t I help but feel like the Gators are about to nose-dive to the bottom of the SEC? Stucky HAS to have one foot out the door, right?? I am a bit numb, shocked, and even a bit angry. Two of the past season's starters have left or are leaving. What is the story, why did Beason leave and why is Kelly leaving? Is it not wanting the pressure (do not this it is this, at least on Beason's part because Nebraska generally has higher expectations), more NIL $$ at another program (if so, who's poaching?), animosity with the staff (maybe I am reading too much into Beason's youtube video interviews).... If they were not happy last summer, did they say anything to the staff? Did they try to work through it? If so and no resolution came then look for a better fit. If not, there is a life lesson that has yet to be learned. From my view, it appears a lot of players across the country at all levels hit the portal due to a lack of playing time. For these two that is certainly not the case - they played and played A LOT, so that can not be the case. Neither had immense competition for playing time going forward the next 2 years. So is there something more nefarious? I do not think the Gators will hit the bottom of the SEC, but they are certainly not longer at the top, or even in the top 4. Even if Bre had returned, they had a lot of work to do this summer. Passing & defense had been an issue. This spring the offense looked well off, borderline incompetent, but you can argue that Stucky is trying to figure out tempo and location for new hitters at both pins (fwiw, I am glad to hear Sophia is on the mend and should be back for the fall at 100%). With the departure of Bre, I could not blame Stucky or others from jumping ship. I would not be surprised if their club coaches or families are getting contacted to see if they can be poached - I fully believe there are some coaches at top programs doing it. Maybe I'm a conspiracy theorist, but how does someone get on the portal, and within 12 hours (or even less) they have committed to a new program and have NIL deals ready to go. Heck, I have even heard a kid go to a top 10 program without being on scholarship and get her school paid for through NIL money and even have enough to put into her bank to cover her housing off campus as well as more in pocket change. It would be devastating if Stucky left without a SEC-level setter on the roster. But nobody wants to be the last searching for a lifeboat. I am hoping the staff can bring the team together this summer, or even those remaining can find motivation in this.

is there any actual indication Stuckey is on the way out? Not that I know of, but a setter of her caliber could go anywhere if she wanted to

is there any actual indication Stuckey is on the way out? I think its just speculation to the situation she's in with her two best hitters gone

I saw in an interview that Beason said she wanted to win a national championship. I agree that Mary has had very talented teams that she should have way more final four appearances and at least one championship already. Also her coaching decisions sometimes baffle me. They legit could’ve made final four appearances these last couple season but nothing seems to change. Hopefully she gets the team better together. It seemed like spring season was a mess and we looked worse compared to other SEC teams so idk, Mary need to get it together if not others will jump ship.

I think your punctuation is misplaced here. It should read: What's going on? Mary.

If Stucky transfer, Florida is doomed this season Hopefully she pulls a Jordyn Poulter and sticks it out. Would hate to see Florida crumble like that with her departure...

Mary is 62/63, so plenty of years left to coach. IMO she has likely earmarked retirement once she wins a championship, which is obviously far from likely this season. She does have some strong recruits coming in '24, and I'm sure will continue to stock the cupboards in '25. Having two 2-year starters leave in the same year is a first, and definitely a concern. But I feel like this generation of athletes with NIL will be loyal to other things than a program for 4 years. Beason is out, but she has 6'6 Martin. Very different types of players (obviously size-wise), but Martin has a ton of upside and I think was a leading point scorer in Spring. Kelley was posied for a breakout year, but her numbers last year weren't off the charts for an M1 who jumps that high, and Mary has 3 very talented middles left who should seize this opportunity. It's highly unlikely a Markova-type will pop up this late in the portal, but clearly anything can happen. I predict 2md/3rd in the SEC this season, and they will somehow squeak another Sweet 16.
