Gators are playing backups at OH, MB, S and RS due to injury. We will take some lumps, but will be stronger for it once hopefully all these players (minus Hutson) return this season. We need the team to stay focused and do their best until then so our RPI doesn't plummet. McKissock and Canaan must control the passing to give their freshman setter and inexperienced hitters (Rothe, Thomas, Auguste) the best chance. Go Gators! Agree with much of what you have shared secgator4, but don't agree as it relates to the OH and MB assessment, at least not fully. The OH's were always likely to be Fitzpatrick and Izzy Martin. Sadly, most importantly for Kira, I think that that the season was a significant question mark, and I'm not sure most thought that Madi and Lauren were likely to be getting the majority of reps on the left. Could be wrong and heck yeah, the Gators would be/are stronger if all three of those options were real and available. Here's to hoping something changes, but the likelihood says probably not. As for the MB/MH position, you'd think that Gabi Essix was pencilled in as one of the two holding down the fort at the net, so your argument may be partially accurate, but it seemed early on that the buzz for the two freshmen, Rothe and Auguste was legitimate to possibly see a lot of court time. What did that mean for Amaya Thomas? Probably not a bunch of time, but boy has she been a terrific offensive weapon two weekends in? With K-Mart re-habbing since the Colorado State match, it meant that Rothe needed to slide to the right side, which she has done a terrific job of, and that Amaya and Jaela would play the MB role, as Gabi works herself back in. If the Gators can continue to get Ms. Parks the ball with lots of choices and she can continue to distribute to the middles both in front of behind the setters, good things will continue to happen offensively. Now, Florida could greatly benefit from a few more blocks/block touches to help the backrow. It's coming! Ms. Parks has been phenomenal and the efforts/production of Rothe on the right has been very good. Both are freshmen, and filling the shoes of All-Americans. Beyond impressive and valuable for now, short term and long term. Go Gators!

floridagators.com/sports/womens-volleyball/rosterlooking at the individual's bio in the roster, it looks like Gravlee, Hutson, and Cornier have declared redshirt for the 2024 season. This leaves the Gators with 5 options on the wings for the remainder of the season.

This leaves the Gators with 5 options on the wings for the remainder of the season. I just hope the transfer portal doesn't ruin what I hope to see in 2025 and beyond: (years of eligibility starting in 2025) OH1 - Hutson 6'3 (4) OH2 - Harden 6'3 (3) MB1 - Rothe 6'3 (3) MB2 - Auguste 6'2 (3) RS - Martin 6'6 (2) S - Stucky 6'2 (2) L - Canaan (1) As far as 2024, Gators at full strength will essentially have 1 sub at every hitting position. It will be interesting to see if Essix beats out Thomas or Auguste or if Rothe earns a spot back in the middle when K Martin returns. I don't see K Martin hitting outside - her block is too important on the right and ACF passes some so we need her in the lineup. With how Parks is playing, I wouldn't even be mad at the 6-2 as Stucky gets reacclimated, but I don't think that we have enough passing from 6 rotation players to allow for that. We'd run out of subs quick. TodayOH1- I Martin 6'0 (5th Yr Sr) OH2 - ACF 5'11 (5th Yr Sr) MB1 - Auguste 6'2 (Fr) MB2 - Thomas 6'3 (Jr) RS - Rothe 6'3 (Fr) S - Parks 5'11 (Fr) L - McKissock (5th Yr Sr) Potential Future Lineup 2024 (most experienced)
OH1- I Martin 6'0 (5th Yr Sr) OH2 - ACF 5'11 (5th Yr Sr) MB1 - Essix 6'3 (Sr) MB2 - Thomas 6'3 (Jr) RS - K Martin 6'6 (So) S - Stucky (R So) L - McKissock (5th Yr Sr)
Backups (all freshmen): - OH - Harden
- MB - Auguste
- RS - Rothe
- S - Parks

There were times during that Ohio state match that I had to rewind & be like “damn that was I. Martin passing that dime”. I feel like it’s been a handful of years since we’ve had an outside that can pass consistently.

Her passes tend to be a little low and off the net, imo, but I haven’t really seen her shank any!

Your potential future lineup has two flaws and they are both in the middle. Rothe and Auguste will be your middles.

I've been unable to watch the last 3 matches, either due to DirectTV or Coaching, can someone give me a summary on where we are losing these matches?

I've been unable to watch the last 3 matches, either due to DirectTV or Coaching, can someone give me a summary on where we are losing these matches? I would say defense is our biggest weakness. The littles just seem very chaotic on the court either missing digs or overpassing them. Hopefully they settle in here soon!

If stat broadcast has it right, another Gator made her collegiate debut this afternoon in Atlanta against Alabama State. Bella Lee saw the court in sets 2 and 3, serving up an ace in set 2. Lauren Harden, playing her second collegiate match, got on the stat sheet hitting 1.000 with four kills. She was also credited with a block assist.

Wish it would’ve been streamed but I’m glad Mary is getting the other freshmen some important reps.

My Gators are 6-2 with a GT whipping 3-0 that was to be expected.
The Gators always improve as the season moves along which is a bonus for the new players.
