I would love to see a line up with both Jasper and Akinwumi on the floor at the same time. Pepp could be major trouble next season. EXCEPT.... if you can't pass well enough than they would rarely get an opportunity for a quality swing and passing seems to get overlooked all too often in this game. Doesn’t even look like Akinwumi is part of the program anymore, haven’t seen him at all. Unless he’s injured.

Updated rankings 1. Long Beach - Lots. of. Firepower. 2. Pepperdine - Jasper! 3. UCSD - Return everyone. 4. Hawaii - Young, but talented 5. UCLA - Who's the setter? 6. Penn State - PSUIVA 7. UCI - My darkhorse 8. Grand Canyon - Consistency? 9. Loyola - 10th year Zolg is back. 10. USC - Sam Kobrine 11. Ohio State - A year away, IMHO. 12. UCSB - Wilcox needs help. 13. Lewis - Why is Tyler Mitchem still playing college ball? 14. BYU - Passing, passing, passing??? T-15 - CSUN, PRINCETON? Did I miss someone? There is absolutely no way BYU drops this far.

I'd say their range is between 11-14. Their passing is the most questionable. On paper they look to be one of the worst passing teams in the country. And then you add in breaking in a new setter and no GGF to bail you out. It could get ugly early.

how fired up are the Triton fans on here? When was the last time they were in the top 5 talk? natty this year? There aren't too many dedicated Triton fans. ucsdfan hasn't been on much lately. Those of us that have followed the program (I have since '08), know this is the most preseason hype the team has had, more than last year especially since all of the returners from the top teams are gone. There has never been top 5 talk preseason for the program before this year. Big questions though: - who takes the opposite spot? its not as simple to slide one of the 3 OHs over there as people are saying on here. Can Siragusa step up and do it consistently? - who wins the setter battle? After Boyle got a lot of playing time in the BW tourney last year, does he push Crisp for the starting job? Looks like Campbell is not with the team any more. A team that looked so strong at the end of last year returning 6 starters plus Wyatt Harrison puts UCSD in position to push for a bid to the tournament.

Lots of rosters have been quietly dropping online. Pepperdine's 28-player roster is up. As expected, they return all the key players from last year with the exception of Noah Dyer and the addition of Jasper: pepperdinewaves.com/sports/mens-volleyball/rosterAkinwumi is still with the team according to this. I suspect this will be trimmed by the time January rolls around?

Going off of social media he literally wasn’t in any of the pre season footage, which seems to kind of be a Jasper highlight reel lol. Didn’t know he was already a Junior, man another reason for big p5 schools to pick up the sport, YOU KNOW a percentage of all these huge rosters’ players transfer with the quickness if the school itself is an attractive move. No offense to them and hope they end up being great but you’re just not going to get the same pull with FDU and LIU as you would with a Texas, Arizona, and Florida

No Luke Denton on Loyola's roster? Anyone know what happened there? Thought an earlier post said he was expected to return this year.

I’ve seen plenty of posts on various boards about returning players, but I’m interested in hearing about any freshman that might break into a starting role this year. Anyone have any thoughts on what they’ve seen in the pre-season scrimmages?

Hawaii will be fine. I have them in the 4-5 range with the highest ceiling. Gage was practically a third coach out there. I'm sure Sharp or whoever takes over the L jersey learned ALOT from him. Also factor in Wade's praise of Todd who was arguably the "best player in the gym". And fianlly the player to watch! Dimi Mouchlias who is primed to take over the opposite spot. Although not 100% he still has the hops and physicality needed at that position. Go Bows! Agreed, I think Mouchlias is going to surprise a lot of people. He was already good to begin with but was in the shadows of Parapunov. The injury did hamper him last year, but he looked good in the off season. If Hawai'i passing and defense is there, they can take home the National Championship again. Go Bows!

Thanks, GoBruins…I did watch some scrimmage highlights from UCLA vs TW and there were some new faces I didn’t recognize on UCLA. And by the way, TW plays some high level VB - their blocking and middle connections are stellar.
