do you not care about passing? You have to start Courtney if you’re going SWP and KP on the outside which I doubt happens Meh..it's just an VNL match, not Olympics. I just wanna see how KP + SWP handle the reception pressure together. Karch won't let both of them start anyway. I think you have to look at the roster in terms of the matches each week. DR Canada Brazil Those who play DR likely won’t play against Canada so they get a rest before Brazil. Obviously, there a few players who might play both DR and Brazil.

I'm also down seeing SWP, Plummer and JWO pass altogether vs. DR even if it means a disaster if that's what takes them to the next level.

The lineups will definitely shuffle from match to match. I think we will probably see a semi strong line-up vs DR. I expect Karch to shuffle the OH's and MB's like he has every VNL. His typical choice is to keep the same starting libero through all three matches but I hope to see a good bit of shuffling there as well. I wouldn't be surprised if the line-ups we saw during those few practice videos ended up being the teams for the first week.
Or, will Karch do what he did during the world cup and keep the same 7 players as the "starters" and then play the bench vs. weaker teams like Canada in week one?
I could see him not using Hill, MBH, Ogbogu/Washington and Hancock during week one. They had the longer pro seasons and will probably enjoy some rest, especially if they went straight to the gym after wrapping up their pro seasons.

I don't think we will ever see KP and SWP both starting at the same time on the left. They will always be paired with Hill, Robinson or Larson to shore up passing, especially if JWO is the Lib.

Well if it looked like Hill and Larson still had enough left in their tanks to provide quality defense and offense then it would certainly behoove the USNT to move their very best libro into that position and pick up maybe Plummer or SWP to backup MBH. Alas I'm afraid that Karch has lost his ability to visualize his best team and make it happen or should I say he never had that. Our only hope is that maybe in this year off he has actually transformed himself as many of us also have. I certainly hope this doesn't boil down to another gold VNL medal where we get all excited as we pound lesser teams only to have us crash and burn against the truly elite teams in the Olympics. A gold medal in the VNL and no medal in the Olympics would be a great disappointment and should spell the end of the Karch era

If you see the video. I think kp will pair up with larson, although i want to see kp and swp together. I don't think it'll happen. Maybe against Thailand or lower team but not against mid to strong team like dr.
We have 6 quality OHs. I think karch will pair them every week.
OH1-OH2 Kp-larson Swp-hill Mbh-krob
Then rotate the oh1 to oh2 and see which is the best pair against china 😜
Though not sure if jt is on best shape right now as i haven't seen her in any practice video. Any of oh1 can sub dews/jt.

We know what MBH, KRob, Hill, and Larson provide. Might as well have one of Plummer/SWP as one of the OHs for a lot of the matches.

Careful there...you don't want to jinx the team, right?

What is the current condition/form of the DR team overall right now?

What is the current condition/form of the DR team overall right now? I mean they beat us the last time we played them, but that was well over a year ago at some NORCECA tournament (Pan Am Games?). The year off probably affected them worse than other teams, Rivera is now 35/36, Mambru is 34, DLC is 33 and hasn't looked like she did in 2014 since even before the pandemic. Conversely, Brayelin Martinez is probably a year better and they have their "A" libero Brenda Castillo back too. Tbh I just expect them to still be super inconsistent like we've seen in the past. Either they play well, it goes 5, and it's like 50/50 who wins, or they play not-so-well and we sweep.

Especially with the prolonged period with no NT matches, that's going to be a challenge for them to maintain their form. Still, would DR be a cakewalk for the US? Hmmm...

You also have to take into consideration who is playing for the US. Will Karch insist on making the final 4 or will he want to give the new ones more experience?
So don't focus too much on the results* and just watch the process
*granted, if Karch does play the A-team and end up losing, then that would be worrisome...

Yeah some of their veterans are getting on in age. Especially with the prolonged period with no NT matches, that's going to be a challenge for them to maintain their form. Still, would DR be a cakewalk for the US? Hmmm... I mean I'm just saying this based on our last like 5-6 matches against them. I think in 2018 our "B" roster beat them in 5 at Pan Am (think that team was like SWP, Kingdon, Washington, a few others) but in 2019 it was either us sweeping or them winning in 5. It's either a cakewalk or a really challenging match based on the past. Tbh I would prefer the latter over the former.

Never said I did. But curious to see how the US do against DR after a long while.
