What is the current condition/form of the DR team overall right now? I mean they beat us the last time we played them, but that was well over a year ago at some NORCECA tournament (Pan Am Games?). The year off probably affected them worse than other teams, Rivera is now 35/36, Mambru is 34, DLC is 33 and hasn't looked like she did in 2014 since even before the pandemic. Conversely, Brayelin Martinez is probably a year better and they have their "A" libero Brenda Castillo back too. Tbh I just expect them to still be super inconsistent like we've seen in the past. Either they play well, it goes 5, and it's like 50/50 who wins, or they play not-so-well and we sweep. Mambru is a non-factor. She hasn't played against USA or anyone of relevance in recent times. She's like third-string OPPO at best and I am not expecting her to make a Tokyo roster. Brenda was not 100% in the NORCECA Olympic Qualifier. I think it was much better for her for Tokyo to be postponed. Jineiry+Brayelin+Brenda played in Brazil this past pro-season. Eve and Gaila Gonzales played in Turkey. De La Cruz played in AU. I think these 6 are the 'best' starters, though Rivera often splits time in the lineup as Gonzales will hit the bench and Brayelin moves to OPP. I actually wanted Brayelin getting more reception practice, but ironically it was the MB Eve getting reception practice in Turkey (lol). DR's best lineup is to have Brayelin+DLC on the pins along with Gonzales behind. If they can pass well enough with that lineup they have a ton of offensive potential. De La Cruz might not be at her level before, but at #3 option at the pins, she can still produce and she can still rip serves. Against USA, Brayelin has absolutely went off to lead them to the wins. But yeah, you're probably right. 3-0 USA or 3-2 DOM. Who knows!

They haven't had any recent record of injuries, correct? Jineiry has had shoulder problems for like, ever. Not sure what her current status is, but it's certainly not bad enough to leave her home. Candida Arias is being left home for that reason. Rivera's certainly got some wear and tear, 20+ years on the national team will do that to you. She mentioned that in her retirement statement, she physically just can't bear much more. Marte actually said she feels well enough to play much longer, but she wants to retire (likely after Tokyo, probably 2022 at the very latest) and move on with her life. But nothing really major to report of re: injuries. De La Cruz showed me a little stamina concerns in AU, but I imagine she's getting into better shape.

I'm watching USA play China in the 2019 VNL Prelims right now. VolleyballTV is f*cking great. I am going to get up at 3am to watch the first serve between the Belgians and the Dutch.
I'm excited to see Dominicana make some noise. Brayelin can single handedly push the USA. It could be a really exciting match. The World Cup match was close until the 3rd set where the Doms just gave up. That was a grueling tournament for them. They don't have the depth that the USA does. Thats what I love about this sport. You just never know which teams day its going to be. I love that feeling.
I am soooooo pumped for this tournament ya'll.
I also think that Plummer will be channeling her inner Zhu Ting energy and is going to have a lights out connection with either Carlini or Poulter. She might even start during this match ya'll. That would be impressive. Not a bad debut for her on the Senior National Team Roster. I think we see her vs. Canada if she even makes this weeks roster. Will Karch start the fringe players right off the bat?

With Volleyball TV, is it just live stream or will all matches be available to watch later?

With Volleyball TV, is it just live stream or will all matches be available to watch later? All are on demand but usually between 2-10 hours after depending on when a match airs. The earlier matches will probably take longer to be viewable, since I have noticed that many of the "prime time" matches tend to be the best matchups of that week. The Prime Time one's will be the ones that will probably be ready pretty soon after the match is done.

Also, the VNL homepage DIRECTLY links you to your account on Volleyball TV. That is a shiny new feature that I am in love with!

The odds for USA ....
Dominican Republic vs United States of America. Prior to RD (# 9 fivb) debut in the 2021 Nations League, against USA (# 2 fivb). In relation to the confrontations between both teams, we have the following; As of 2014: 15 Matches played 12 Won for USA 8 (3-0) 3 (3-1) 1 (3-2) 03 Won for RD 2 (3-2) 1 (3-1) And if we go to the meetings since 2009, the dominance of the USA has been expanded, winning from that date 19 of 22. More taking into account the last two years as a reference ..... where 6 games were played, all in 2019. Of 5 matches held USA 3 won, all via 3-0 and Dominican 2 won, both via 3-2. We are not talking about any volleyball team, we are talking about the USA, the greatest potential in the world, at a general level in sports. Where only to compete and sometimes beat them, makes us great as a nation of only 10 million inhabitants. Forecast for the match: Favorite USA, with a 70/30 ratio. Where can she be surprised by the Dominican team, which has already beaten her recently.
