No dig unless it leads to a kill. was it like that before? I don't recall that being the standard in 2019 competitions. I believe so. Maybe I am misremembering, but I think digs and blocks are the two major stats that are different than NCAA stats.

but looking at 2019 WC's best diggers,
the korean libero kim hae-ran had 158 digs on 199 attempts, with about 4 per set. I don't think those were ALL converted in transition.
I bet FIVB changed their standards again.

I feel like digs should count as long as the ball gets back over the net, even if it's a free ball. I feel that way too. It's not the defender's problem if the attacker can't kill a ball lol I believe their position is the same as assists -- you don't get an assist on sets hitters *should* have put away. It takes the subjectivity out of it and makes it more likely (not 100% of course) that the dig was a quality dig. I don't really have an opinion on it, I guess, although -- just like block touches or effective non-kill attacks -- that info is nice to have. I'm sure the teams *do* have it.

Tori Dixon stans unite... y'all as slow as her Dixon is about the 5th middle on a stacked US squad. Foluke (we'll see, but still better than Dixon after 10 kids), Ogbogu, Washington, Tapp now better.

Give evidence please. I don’t think a fair opinion can be established on Washington til we see her 2021 self play in the USA system. She has arguably the most offensive range but is also quite streaky (barely holding her starting role for Novara) and is still so slow to the pins. And Dixon v Tapp is a wash, able to terminate on good sets and reliable blockers/servers but not going to do much on forced sets.

Dixon is talked about as being the good blocker for team USA... ZERO blocks today. I could have sworn she had at least one to end the second set...

I don't care to provide anything other than observation over the last quad. I don't have time and any comparison via data is apples to oranges given no one competes against the same competition in pro season.

So bottom line, if you are going to summarize Plummer's performance, how will you assess her for this match? Some sick attacks even out of system, but also some unforced errors. Passing was good enough, and she responded well after bad passes. Blocking was good, off block and digging were solid. I hope / think some of those errors were first time jitters. Very intimidating to be in her position but a very solid start for her, hopefully it builds confidence for future matches and she gets more comfortable. Usas system seems a beat to fast for her liking at the moment but she’s barely had time to adjust. I wish they would give her an extra half second on those sets but she’ll adapt

the DR coach saying "la rubia and la china" bruhhhh La China is Lisvel Eve-Mejia. That’s her nickname. Everyone calls her China. You’ll hear it on court. Jineiry is called “Chiqui”. A lot of nicknames. But even referring to opponents in T/O’s you’ll hear similar things like “La Rubia” . Dominicans are funny.

KP can improve that service receive. They had oos because of poor reception.
DR did not play well on this match, lot of mistakes.
We shall see tomorrow. I think they will still use the same lineup for the whole week. But against brazil. They might use the vets. We all know karch won't take any chances.
