So, a lot of people probably don't know, but ASU is one of the more disliked teams in College Softball. Their twitter account talks a LOT of sh*t.

BYU has a tall task in needing to take down Virginia Tech(x2) tomorrow, but, they have plenty of offensive potential. Should be a fun one.

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear that Virginia Tech was the best team in the regional. Their pitcher is really tough. But we'll see what happens.

After the Husky game I thought, "Maybe I'll watch the Mariners". Checked the score. 1-12 they are losing to the Padres.

Um, that's OK. Maybe I'll play a video game instead.

Apparently, Zavodnik actually lettered in baseball in high school as a junior and senior, hitting over .300 (with an OBP over .500) both years. It looks like she played club softball, though. She is also the first player in WCC history to win conference Player of the Year as a freshman.

Georgia up 1-0 on #13 Duke - Duke is actually designated home team, but not hosting this regional as a top seed because they didn't get a pre-determined regional.. Georgia finished 1-9 in its last 10 matches, talk about good fortune.

Alabama is the only Top 16 seed of 5 current matches going on to actually be leading.

James Madison pitcher Oddici Alexander had 19 strikeouts in a 10-inning game yesterday. I saw a video of all 19 of them. It didn't look like she had a ton of movement on her pitches, but she had enough heat to just blow them by the Liberty hitters.

Edit: After watching it again, she also did a good job of mixing in a changeup and had a nice sinking pitch too.

Why is UCF the home team? Coin flip?

There's a formula. It's more simple earlier in the regional, so:

Any #3 seed who won its game on Day 1 will for sure be the home team against the 1-seed. This is why James Madison is also designated home team, they were a #3 seed as well. Notre Dame, Georgia, and Clemson are 2-seeds. Since the 2-seeds were home team the same amount of times as the 1-seed, the higher seed will be home team.

Here it is:

DETERMINATION OF HOME/AWAY

The home team for the first round will be the higher-seeded team. In subsequent games, the home team will be determined according to the following formula:

1. The games committee shall designate as home team the institution that has been home team the fewest times (regionals and finals are considered separately).

2. If two teams have been home team an equal number of times but visiting team an unequal number of times, the team that has been the visitor most often shall be designated as the home team.

3. If two teams have been both home team and visiting team an equal number of times, and if the two teams previously met, the visitor in the initial game shall be the home team in the second game.

4. If games between the same teams are back-to-back, the home team shall be the visitor from the previous game, regardless of the number of times either team has been home or visitor.

5. If two teams have been both home team and visiting team an equal number of times, the team that was the visitor in its preceding game shall be the home team, unless both teams were the visitor in their preceding games.

6. If the preceding formula does not prevail, the higher-seeded team shall determine if it would like to be home or visitor.

7. When teams play back-to-back games, they must be prepared to change uniforms and dugouts, if necessary

James Madison has the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the fifth up 3-1. 

Edit: Tennessee gets out of it with a strikeout that caught the batter looking.

Notre Dame RUN-RULES #14 Kentucky on their home field. This was THE worst seeding decision, so a little justice. Kentucky had no business above Oregon and Washington. Then again, Oregon has to win 4 straight games to advance. Though, Texas State wasn't playing a home game, they are a very good team who had to go just up the road to Austin. I would love to see Texas State beat Texas, forcing a possible Oregon-Texas elimination game later today.

Tennessee is down to their last three outs. I didn't realize that James Madison went to the super regional in 2019, so they're not really a Cinderella.

JMU has been a mid-major power for a bit now. They hosted a regional too some year, but lost. They are 35-1 as a #3 seed because they barely left the state of Virginia and didn't play either of the 2 T25 teams from Virginia.

Still, this is a pretty big upset. Not a lot of people thought JMU could beat both Liberty and Rogers from Tennessee. Liberty very well could beat the loser of this game and end up back in the Regional Final.

Tennessee has put the tying runner on base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh still down 3-1.

Edit: James Madison closes it out with a called strikeout, and now they'll have two chances to win one game to get to another super regional. If they were to advance to the super regional, it seems like they'd have potentially a better shot at their first CWS appearance, since they'd be getting the winner of the Missouri regional, who was the No. 8 seed. In 2019, they had to play against No. 2 seed and eventual national champion UCLA.
