US women DQed from the 4x4…. Lol, I thought that was the USA men's job, particularly in the 4x100.

Lol, I thought that was the USA men's job, particularly in the 4x100. It’s giving 2005 world championships all over again I don't think I saw that one, but there are almost too many failures to count. I'm worried that this will be the end of Carl Lewis one day. He's going to be watching yet another US team get DQ'd due to exchange issues and have a heart attack or something. For his sake, Team USA needs to stop doing this.

TLDR: US women got DQed in the 4x4 but won all other relays. I agree Lewis’s days are probably numbered, but the success of the 4x1s today probably put him on life support as the relays coach

I was looking at the cross country preseason polls, and I was confused to see New Mexico down in the 20s when they're nearly always top 10. Well, it turns out that Louisville poached Joe Franklin. Dang. He's the best coach in the history of New Mexico athletics. Oh well. At least we won a couple of titles.

This weekend is the second-biggest for cross country with Pre-Nats and Nuttycombe. At Pre-Nats, Arkansas dominated on the men's side, and BYU dominated on the women's side. At Nuttycombe, Northern Arizona dominated both the men's and women's races. NAU has a dynasty on the men's side, and I always wondered if their women would catch up. It seems like they have, as they absolutely crushed NC State. It seems that NAU was the biggest winner of Louisville poaching Joe Franklin from New Mexico. Gracelyn Larkin (8th) and Aliandrea Upshaw (12th) both transferred to NAU. This is such an impressive performance from NAU that I think they're on the watchlist for top 10 women's teams of all time if they win it all.
Edit: Okay, I didn't realize that Amaris Tyynismaa transferred to NC State. She didn't run, so if she's at nationals, it might be close with NAU.

NAU's 52 points is the second-lowest score ever behind only 2015 New Mexico's 32 points. The 2015 Lobos are the greatest NCAAW team of all time.
Edit: Also, Parker Valby defeated Katelyn Tuohy by over 12 seconds to win the individual title in a course record.

The US Olympic marathon trials are tomorrow. Unfortunately, Tokyo bronze medalist Molly Seidel is out, as she is recovering from an injury. My favorite distance runner from college, New Mexico legend Weini Kelati (10K and cross country individual champion as well as a key member of the 2017 national championship team), will also not be in the race because she hasn't run a full marathon yet. But she broke the American half marathon record a couple weeks ago. It sounds like she's going to try to make the Olympic team in the 5K and 10K again this summer, which is understandable. But if that doesn't come to pass, or maybe even if it does, I think she'll be moving to full marathons at some point. I've always felt that her future was on the roads, since she doesn't seem to be quite fast enough at the pro level in 5K and 10K, but she has the endurance for the marathon. I expect her to qualify for 2028 Los Angeles.
