It’s unfortunate because Poland has the talent to make this competitive but it probably won’t be based on how badly they have been playing

From the highlights I’ve watched, it feels like Poland has gone away from having both Stysiak and Smarzek on court. They will use one or the other at oppo and then have two other OHs, one for ball control and one that’s a decent hitter. Maybe they’re just experimenting and will return to Stysiak at OH and Smarzek at opposite though.

Also, last week, it felt like we were trying to figure out what could work as a starting lineup. We rotated the middles and OHs each match and also flipped the opposites. I wonder if we’ll settle on one lineup for this week as our ‘starters’.

Another boring match? Poland will let their bench players again play and have experience playing USA. If only wolosz play. 😔

Last match for USA that will be at a normal time. The last two matches will be 6AM ET 😬 and then 4AM 😵💫 Not sure about USA’s match with Russia, but FIVB prioritizes Asian Matches (CHN, JPN, KOR, THA) first so these can be watched late after noon or at night in their local time (GMT +7 +8 or +9). I guess it’s good that FIVB considers these kinds of things, especially since there are a lot of avid volleyball fans in these countries. |

poland made final six two years ago. what happened to them they’re missing Wolosz and their coach isn’t good and Smarzek was better in 2018 and 2019. Some say she’s been injured, but whatever the reason is really she’s not a top opposite anymore. |
