My observations:
The good - MBH. My goodness. She’s vastly performed better as the match progresses. Her agility to receive then attack in system makes her scary. Backrow attacks were on point. She has improved her floor defense as well. Save of course for a few times where she was just standing and wailing her hands to dig the ball 😂 - JWO’s reception. - JT’s offense - Hancock. I thought she performed well. Not just because she had aces, but because she always tried to set better balls despite the shaky reception. Connection with Foluke was there. Those back sets to JT/slide were beautiful. Her sets to MBH were on point especially back row hits.
The bad - JT’s floor and block defense. I have not seen her dig balls in zone 1. Other teams might exploit this esp with Bosko/Egonu. I also find her block to be late at times. Not established enough to roof the opponents although she’s getting touches to slow down the ball - JWO’s digging. There were a lot of quick hits from Poland she was not able to get her hands on. That could be crucial especially on excellent receiving teams who run their middles quite often, save Japan.
I thought Hill did okay. She had sparks of brilliance with her blocks and floor defense. I hope her offense peaks in time, just like MBH, for Tokyo.

I know I'm late to the party but I LOVED how they decided to switch Hill and Hancock for that rotation at the end. Poland was doing that with their blockers in a match earlier to get a more favorable matchup and I think Nowicka even got set once on the outside So I think it's kinda hilarious for USA to do it there and be successful. Also a little bit of a middle finger lol

Hill looked rusty to me. Real drop off in speed at the middle with Dixon in. Obviously but still.

Say what you want about Kim Hill but for Imoco she gave them exactly what they wanted and needed which was solid reception, good floor defense, serving and enough attack skill to not be a negative on the floor. It. does. not. matter. what. she. did. for. Imoco (Which again, in terms of offense was not a whole lot) How much better was Fenerbahce with K-Rob? Loads! Because her specific skillset was what that team needed. It's the same reason she'd be a no brainer starter OH for the majority of NT in the world. That doesn't mean she is the best option for USA based on the pieces around her. The same goes for Hill. Unless we suddenly manifested an Egonu out of nowhere, the circumstances are not the same in terms of what we would need from her at that position. We don't need KRob with Larson without a true OOS hitter on the right., or a setter who can push the ball there.🤷♂️

wrong! USA will have a CHANCE. Just accept you were wrong and you just let you feeling go against her and you want you favourite to be on her position which didn’t happen. Hill has good and decent performance in all skills, same as krob and larson who had bad matched/set past games. But when did hill last time play a full match?! If she was giving enough playing time on court? She is good in serve, block, passing and defense. Isn't that we all want for a player. She might not be as offensive player as before but she can score. You're in my mentions about Hill... so who has the favorite player complex? Hill played a full match today... where she hit .208 or should we go back to Thailand where she hit .200. Or do we need to go back to where she hit .250 in the CL final, or .250 in the semifinal. It's fine to accept her role as a serving sub or coming in when Larson or MBH aren't cutting it. but she shouldn't be starting because she blocked Stysiak a couple times. Hill has a shoulder injury that she is working through. Hopefully, it will be okay before Tokyo and perhaps her offensive play will improve as well.
