Yeah Voronkova and Federovtseva will have to start, and the Russian coach/fans will need to pray/hope that the reception hangs on. Oh God, who's that third OH going to be?! Surely not Smirnova? Might as well be Sokolova...

I mean is there really other choice? They did not bring anyone new for the OH Tokyo training squad so it is definitely going to be her. Offensive players/ hitting is the least of their problem, it is the shank fest that they need to address going to Tokyo. So they are betting to bring a libero acting as 4th OH to help solve that problem

Not sure if it's been discussed, but NBC released who will be doing commentary for them (I'm assuming for both men and women):
INDOOR VOLLEYBALL:
Paul Sunderland, Play-by-Play
Kevin Barnett, Analyst
Heather Cox, Reporter
Kenny Albert, Play-by-Play*
Amy Gant, Analyst*

I assume Paul/Kenny will split the men's/women's. Hopefully that means the rest of the matches we get the world feed aka Clayton Lucas.

Is Scherban healthy? Maybe she’ll be on the roster I think it's too late. If she was an option she would've been preparing at VNL, but she wasn't.

Italy made more cuts. They have 13 athletes for 12 spots now. S: Malinov, Orro Opp: Egonu, Sorokaite MB: Folie, Fahr, Danesi, Chirichella OH: Sylla, Bosetti, Gennari, Pietrini L: De Gennaro
My guess would be Pietrini, Gennari, or one of the middles. Sorokaite can play either pin, so she'll make it. I'm torn on which middle they'd cut.

Depending on whether Parubets will be healthy for Tokyo. If she is, then I don’t see it affecting them much. However I do think that without Parubets, there’s no depth in that OH bench without Kosheleva. Damn I will miss her playing for Russia. Her performance during the 2015 World Cup was especially amazing. Parubets already said that the coaches have decided she is not going to Tokyo and that is why she was also not selected for VNL. Looks like their their team is almost set except the middles because the brought Enina and Efimova to the training squad. Their OH will most likely be Voronkova, Fedorovtseva, Smirnova and Pilipenko (their second libero but will play as defensive player. I think this is a smart decision if it happens. Opp is Goncha and Lazareva Will Romanova be Startseva's back up setter? We didn't see her for the VNL. Is she also injured?

Unpopular opinion: Chirichella. She is still a stellar player but I think that the other three have higher offensive ceilings. All 4 are fantastic blockers.
