Again, keeping this in perspective, team Slaes went 3-1 this Olympics. I wonder, as another poster above, what was the affect of Slaes being separated by quarantine requirements with Claes at the separate hotel. Was Claes able to take advantage of the recovery facilities? Was Slaes able to practice as they normally do? In any case, whatever caused Claes' very noticeable dip in both emotional and physical energy the second half of the second set was probably the deciding factor. The third set was pretty even. Thats one perspective. Another might be: A) Kenya is not a professional volleyball team, so really Slaes were 2-1 B) Ana/Rebecca showed a noticeable drop off after they won the single game they needed, then lost the next two which was the best possible result for Brazil. In terms of matches we know they won, against professional opposition that we are 100% certain were not trying to lose, Slaes went 1-1. Good points. Watching the Brazil match, my thought was, if both teams play their best Brazil wins 6 or 7 out of 10. And for me the difference is Rebecca.

As I suspected. But still nobody’s going to push back on that story for details, I’d guess. I actually don’t believe this based on what what done: I think some people are covering their asses Disagree - this is exactly what it looked like happened. Watch R1's reaction and how far away from the referees the Canadians are when R1 starts making the change.

I agree there needs to be an official explanation. Protests are generally reserved for when a rule is misapplied. Maybe that’s the case here, but my guess is that they’ll just say the call was a judgement call and they erroneously announced it was in before it was actually decided. I don't really get how a closeup, slow motion, high resolution video of a ball touching a line is a judgement call. Sure, back in the days where we would dig a line with our foot, and then we'd argue about how crooked the line was where the ball hit. Considering there is still disagreement on whether the ball hit the line or not (I am as sure it didn't as you are it did) I'd say that is exactly the definition of a judgment call. I see sand moving, I see space between the ball and the line, I don't see the line moving, I don't see the shadow of the line moving.

Looks like they’re already heading/headed home.

Seems like they should have waited a little longer since the COVID rules state that they would advance if Heather or Brandie were to test positive. It's a tiny possibility, but not completely impossible.

Ha, that’s definitely not what happened. The sand bounces up and it’s not even close to where the ball was. I guess my sticking point is based on what I've seen in other similar review plays. Pretty much in all of these reviews, when the ball is traveling across/over the line, if the ball catches the line you can see the line move. I'm struggling to understand how, if the ball touched the line, I'm just not seeing any detectable movement of the line here. To me it makes no sense to conclude that the ball hit the line enough to make the sand jump but not enough to move the line detectably. My interpretation would be that the ball just barely touched the tape. The tape is so much heavier than a few grains of sand that an imperceptible movement of the tape could flick some sand grains up. That being said, I think that should be called "out". The point of contact with the sand was clearly fully out. Whether or not that's the technical definition of the rule, I feel like it should be. (Note, I say this not even knowing which side is favored by an out call.)

They needed to bring in Jim McLaughlin and John Cook. Those are two guys who know how to settle whether a ball is in or out.

What does the green "LB" and "LD" mean next to players names?

What does the green "LB" and "LD" mean next to players names? Left-side Blocker and Left-side Defender. Makes me wonder what they would have done with a split-blocking team like T2 or the Lion King.
