Assume DR beats Kenya anybody in 3-4 sets: Bold of you Hey! They beat Turkey 3-1 at the VNL! Turkey is kind of DR-like but slightly less messy and higher ceiling.

Dr is probably gonna go 5 with Kenya next lol please don't tempt them. they went 5 with Cameroon at the World Cup. So do you agree with me now DR can be wildly inconsistent?

Ankle injury for Koga and not knee, according to the coach's interview. She watched their last game from the stands with crutches.

They went 5 sets with Mexico en route to qualifying here. They went 5 sets like a zillion times at the 2014 World Championships. This is nothing new. But the good part about wildly inconsistent is.. you have potential to beat good teams too.

Has anyone actually argued that DR is wildly inconsistent?? You’re always trying to get people to agree with you by saying obvious things acting like you called it or something

Trojansc took issue with me when I said earlier DR is wildly inconsistent in 5 setters and often choke in the crucial moments...just wondering if he changed his mind now...

Both teams played most of their starters, a couple backups in the first sets, but by the 3rd-4th set it was A-Team for both. Karakurt had an error for every kill she had.

Well, at least now you changed it from agreeing about inconsistency to a different point. You say choke in crucial moments, but, over their 5-set span, they win more 5-setters than lose. So I disagree that they always choked. I think it is a system issue thing. When you can't receive serve, you are going to have wildly inconsistent results. And when you win and lose close matches, choking isn't really fair. Otherwise, any team who loses in 5 sets chokes everytime. That's not the case.

Damn KYK came up clutch with that block at 9-all, then the ace right after. Korea vs. Japan is already a huge rivalry game, but I feel like now it is going to be even more of a heated match. I don't know what's better for DR in that Korea/Japan match. Have a relaxed Japan team beat Korea and already mathematically qualified to the QF's by the time they play, or, have Korea beat Japan and force it to be a winner-take-all. Either way, a DR win over Japan will likely advance them, so, I don't know if Japan playing with pressure or not is better. The real wrench in the equation though is if Japan beats Brazil. Then, it gets way more messy. Originally, I thought Japan would probably win against Korea, but now after this 5 set match I don't really know. Tbh I was expecting Korea to lose today, I just didn't think they had what it took to get a win but they proved me wrong. Japan vs. Korea and Japan vs. DR is going to be nerve-racking for all teams involved. I do think Brazil will beat Japan, but even then i'm not 100% sure anymore. I wonder if Koga makes an appearance soon or if she's out for the entirety of the games now.

I would think that is normally a tournament-ending injury. But, I don't know any other specifics. Koga's injury aside, I'd still like to see DR/Korea advance.

In a situation like this, does the team get to replace the injured athlete with an alternate? I think it would be nice to see Korea advance in what is most likely going to be KYK's last Olympics, but Korea vs. Japan is hard to predict. Always an emotional match considering the history between the two countries.

The last major tournament, the 2018 World Championships, DR and Japan played a crucial match, Both needed it to have hope to make the Final 6, and, you guessed it, it went 5 sets. Japan ended up winning, then beat Brazil (who had already lost to Germany) and advanced to the Final 6.
