I really want to see who will be on our roster. Will the alternates get to go or are they above the NORCECA? (not meant as shade) It should be fun.

maybe after everyone else is done their qualifiers, take top 11 by ranking, then top 2 Asian teams by ranking that haven't qualified already.
(hello Chinese Taipei and Australia)
That’s not how it should work. The premise of the qualification system is to take the top 2 from each continent (via qualification tournaments), then then next 11 best overall. China and Japan should get the two AVC spots if the tournament doesn’t happen. yeah that's true. It should be the continent first. (lol why wasn't this done for olympics...?)
I guess the other AVC federations would really want to push for the tournament to happen then.

Puerto Rico just needs to beat one of Canada/Mexico and their ranking should be good enough to make it directly. They should be able to do that... but NORCECA will NORCECA

Cristobal Marte (NORCECA president, also Dominican) wasn't happy with Dominicana's performance (translated)
Cristobal Marte is not in line with what the Caribbean Queens achieved in Tokyo and said there will be staff changes. ′′ I'm not satisfied ", he told Caribe on the phone from Tokyo yesterday. ′′ We lost two games in five sets to Brazil and Korea, which if we had been another result, we would have had the opportunity to move further and fight for medal. We finish in eighth place and down on the global scale from sixth to seventh. You always learn and keep working ", he added. The female volleyball national teams' chief executive said that next week the training process for qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Paris Olympics has begun and that new faces must be made way.
Possible members ′We must give way to the new generations, just like we gave it to the current one. Now in Tokyo we got a generational relay, there are three players instead. Annerys Valdez, Prisilla Rivera and Gina Mambrú, who have already done their best to this country, can not be asked for more and we must think about the talent that comes on the rise ", he said.
He mentioned players such as Madeline Guillén, Vielka Michel Peralta, Natalia Martínez, Geraldine González y Yineiris Rodríguez within the group called to be in the ′′ Caribbean Queens ′′ group in the immediate future. ′′ Why do we train athletes? I appreciate everyone who has been, but sport is like this, as in life, evolves ", he said.

Beating Japan in Tokyo could actually be a slight overachievement, losing to Korea underachievement, so, I look at them as pretty much exactly in line with expectations. Did Cristobal Marte really expect them to be in the Semifinals? That would be a pretty significant over-achievement, a la Korea. And if he wanted a better QF matchup -- Pool B was a crap shoot and going into the last day it practically could have been anyone anywhere, especially with a draw, so, the QF matchups is meh again. The disappointment (short-term) was that De La Cruz couldn't terminate, and Brayelin clearly wasn't at her best, she hasn't been this entire year, really (injury). Even a less than 100% Brayelin though, neither of the sisters were an issue. Jineiry was definitely a bright spot and if they can pass better consistently and develop a quality second ball so Castillo doesn't have to scramble, they can be potent. They have the arms and physicality in the pipeline. The issue long-term is that Kwiek has had an entire decade to develop an OH2/improve ball control overall with the team, and he hasn't done it. That's the most glaring issue on this team. Samaret Caraballo (UTRGV alum) and Vielka Peralta might be the best options to develop in that position. Peralta is much better offensively while Caraballo is just probably too undersized and not going to add enough offensively at the NT level but, you never know. The other players he mentioned (Natalia, Geraldine, Madeline) are going to have plenty of potential too. DR can hang on to Brenda for long enough and build around the Martinez sisters. They need to develop a good consistent setter, an OH2, and the rest should be good enough to keep them just outside the big dogs and fight to be one of the better 'next-in-line' teams. The issue is they've needed to get better setting and an OH2 for the past 5+ years, so, I wouldn't be surprised to see staffing changes. But Cristobal Marte can't act like he even has $$$ money to throw at a quality coach.

I think Cristobal is determined not to see Dominican Republic Vollebyall go the way of Cuba Volleyball. At least Cuba has had their high's. Dominicana hasn't even gotten into medal-contention at any major world event, including the old World Grand Prix/new VNL. They did finish 5th at the World Championships and were so close to getting into the Semifinals there, but, with DLC's shoulder injury after that event and subsequent surgery, they didn't have anyone to bail out their weaknesses to get into a position like that since then.

is there a chance the DR federation replaces Kwiek? although I'm not sure who would be next in line aside from maybe some coaches in the Brazilian league or some other coaches? I'd assume they need to be Spanish-speaking (so some of the Brazil coaches might be out) or they need a translator or something?
although, if Brayelin can get healthy/DLC starts terminating again they could get results and that might placate some of the higher-ups
