2021 NORCECA Championships Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico August 24th, 2021 - September 1st, 2021
Reigning 2019 Champions: Dominican Republic *Top 2 teams qualify to 2022 World Championships*Links Wikipedia (this link is not live yet and redirects to the event historically, should be live pretty soon) NORCECA Event Page Regulations
Participants (with world ranking listed)
Pool A #28 Mexico (Host) #7 Dominican Republic #56 Costa Rica #64 Trinidad & Tobago
Pool B #1 USA #15 Puerto Rico #19 Canada
Information The 2021 NORCECA Championship serves as a World Championship Qualification event. The top two teams who qualify here will advance to the 2021 World Championships. Dominican Republic and USA will assuredly qualify for the World Championships no matter what because the top world rank teams who don't qualify through the continental route will be given berths to the World Championships, so it doesn't really matter how they perform it. Puerto Rico and Canada are potential *bubble* teams, though I have to double check the math to see how likely it is that either get in without a win here. There is essentially no chance that Cuba, Costa Rica, or Trinidad & Tobago qualify finish top-two in this event (in my eyes).
The kicker here is Mexico. They're playing at home and they would love a return to the 2022 World Championships after a 2018 appearance. There is zero chance they qualify through World Ranking, so they must finish top two to qualify.

I guess I should post the euros thread ๐ค๐ค โBest teams in the worldโ I mean ๐๐ I wonder what roster USA will send I too am very curious as to what roster the USA will send. People make fun of USA sending their A-Team to the VNL, but Dominicana will send their A-Teams to an Open Gym, so, I expect their fullest here. This event is also very close in dates to the Pan-Am Cup, which will be just weeks later in Santo Domingo, DR. Is there a chance that Canada could jump Puerto Rico in ranking with a head-to-head win yet still not finishing top two here? Has anyone ran scenarios of what the cutoff will likely be (in World Ranking) for Qualifying to the 2022 World Championships? What is the current status of Asia? Didn't China and Japan withdraw from the Qualification events?

Hopefully Gray will be ready to play front row for this one. Van Ryk can already carry this team, but i imagine Van Ryk and Gray together will be the most dangerous pair of pins from any team not DR or USA (maybe even including them)

(or at least the Martinez's lol) I did... but a lot of it will change with the Euros. Teams like Bulgaria, Czechs, Greece haven't played important matches. Rankings could shift. Yea, China and Japan have. Looking just now, Korea has too.

The Euro teams are *not* going to be happy AVC is getting a free pass into the WCH.
Depending on rankings (and what Thailand does), there could be 6 AVC reps (China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, AVC1, AVC2)
