We talk about volleyball boosters like we talk about FB and MBB boosters. I don't think volleyball boosters carry that kind of weight, especially as the price to be at the table in FB and MBB keeps rising. I just don't think the ADs are paying attention to the boosters unless they are building gyms for the volleyball team. Truth

And for schools that don't know what their conference should look like in the next 3-4 years, non-revenue sports are not what is keeping the admin up at night.

I remember when we thought this thread was premature until Election Day. Then we tried to get people to hold off until Columbus Day, or even the start of conference play. I feel like only a year or two ago people were looking for scalps after Labor Day. Now we cannot even wait until opening day? Seriously, as of this minute, every coach in the country is undefeated in a pandemic. Nobody is on a hot seat for on court reasons yet. And if there are legitimate off court concerns that make them unfit for the job, then it shouldn't matter what they do on the court this season. There is going to be more than enough movement after the season to fill two jobs threads with lies, gossip and innuendo. So I'll make my annual Pollyanna plea to wait a minute... So can we please hold off on firing anyone for losing until they actually lose a conference match? What are you going to do next, go to a crack house and ask the patrons to not use their purchase for a month? This is VT and the Hot Seat thread. Haters got to hate.

Safely, anonymously, without repercussions, without responsibility, without skin in the game. Pretty much playing with themselves. Mentally.

I just don't think the ADs are paying attention to the boosters unless they are building gyms for the volleyball team. They listened to the boosters at Stanford. That's how the 11 sports that were going to be cut got reinstated. Granted. there were some decently large boosters (e.g., the Keefes) involved but no one was a mega $$ booster who was building gyms. IAE, I thought we were discussing how boosters could help teams besides football. Smaller $ boosters can do that.

Personally I don't care to criticize players or coaches on here because I know that they will definitely read it.
It's not like some anonymous CFB board where you can just let it fly, and they will never even see it.

How safe is Tom Black? This is his 5th year, and UGA has not really lived up to expectations. 2017 - 22-12 (10-8) - Stemke's players, for the most part, plus Ritchie 2018 - 15-14 (6-12) - Ceasar transfer drama 2019 - 20-10 (12-6) - big bounce back season 2020 - 8-14 (8-14 - duh) - rather significant disappointment I expect UGA to have a pretty good season this year, so this is likely moot. But if they struggle like 2020, is Black in any danger? I wonder about this one too.

What are you going to do next, go to a crack house and ask the patrons to not use their purchase for a month? This is VT and the Hot Seat thread. Haters got to hate. Some are Haters. Some are fans of their own program, some are defending their coach! It's always interesting to me to see which program has more of which. Internal supporters or internal critics. I guess same thing with external, too. But I don't think this thread is inappropriate at all. Most of the stuff here towards a specific coach isn't even that bad at all so far. I also don't subscribe to the fact that no department is interested in this seasons' results towards and even at this point thinking about making a potential change. A minority, absolutely. But, it certainly can be on someone's mind. Anonymity is a good and bad thing, sometimes. Some good opinions/perspectives would never be expressed. Then again, if this forum is so toxic, why do so many players and coaches read it? Seems they may respect some of the stuff here.

I’m not sure coaches and players necessarily “respect” what’s on here, I think it’s more human curiosity or compulsion that drags them here. I do know lots of programs want to at minimum be aware of what’s being said about their program or them specifically. Many programs have a DOVO or Other staff person who monitors the chat rooms, forums and social media. All part of the new world we’re all living in.

But if it’s part of a trend, I think it could matter. But a 1-off bad season wouldn’t. Which is why this fall would be particularly important to prove it isn’t the start of a trend.
