Today, Dain, Megan Kraft, and Delaynie Maple were all recognized by/inducted into USC’s most prestigious all-university honor society, The Skull & Dagger Society. Last year the Nourses were honored/inducted. Congrats to them!

I like how Ashley Pater has established herself during the second half of the season. Solid performances. She could be a bona fide two or three pairs player. I'm a Trojan fan, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the pendulum mighr swing the other way in Gulf Shores. Anybody's guess. I am a little nervous with #1 pair, they seem vulnerable. Very encouraged by what Pater is showing, she's a fast learner and smart. Just hoping they won't go to the Gulf shore with overconfident attitude.

They go on Monday and have several days to acclimate. I heard today that the FRI AM game in Arizona they were affected by wind some but dialed it in as the day went on.

I think Pater historically plays well in the wind, she has really turned it on in her first season.

Someone is going to need to explain the PAC 12 tournament awards. That makes zero sense based on what I saw. Twins 100% correct.

Is Dain the most underrated beach volleyball coach in NCAA? Dain has been a part of 6 national championships (3 as a volunteer asst coach and 3 as head coach). He's also seeded 1 and has the highest shot at going at #7, yet he has never won any awards and will probably be snubbed again this year. The committee loves to reward cinderella stories (making it to NCAAs for the first time, first winning season, etc.) when the reality is that these teams come nowhere near the caliber of USC/UCLA and have just gone out in the first/second rounds of NCAAs. No other sport would reward this. Prime example of an extremely overrated coach is Andrew Fuller who won Pac-12 and National COY in 2021 as his program made it to NCAAs for the first time to only lose twice in a row as the 6th seed. Fuller has been coaching at Stanford since 2017, multiple years stint at the nation's most prestigious university with the all the recruiting advantages in the world, but has never won Pac-12 or more than one game at NCAAs. Just mind boggling. Things like this make the postseason awards meaningless.

NCAA All America Awards also a little bizarre. Kraft/Maple on 1st Team No Trojans on 2nd Team?

NCAA All America Awards also a little bizarre. Kraft/Maple on 1st Team No Trojans on 2nd Team? Yeah! I ranted a bit about this on the other thread. The Trojans swapped the 2s pair quite a bit this year. Maddi Kriz should have got second team though. Edit: I take that back… Nourses should have gotten recognized. The AVCA should take into consideration lower pairs on “super teams”. For example, Julia Scoles and Delaynie Maple deserved All American second team status in 2022.

Agreed, that's the issue with these All-American awards that theoretically should award the best individual players in the country. In practice, it's just the #1-2 flights of ranked teams (that stick together for the majority of the season) that get awarded every year, with little consideration to the skill or ability of the individual player.

NCAA All America Awards also a little bizarre. Kraft/Maple on 1st Team No Trojans on 2nd Team? I’m the first one that says the coaches are just paid to win championships but a couple of our players were severely hurt with the rotating pairs, positions and lineup. White for sure, that’s just wrong. I’d assume she is a team first player but it’s frustrating. I hope we don’t loose players due to individual recognitions that just don’t happen for SC players. I can’t imagine they are not frustrated. Look at all American. How does Cal have 4??? That’s a joke.
