good stuff. Three wins over the top two Brazilian teams for Tina. Nice comeback for Kelly/Sara after a 2-1 2nd place in pool.

Why would she be eligible for this? As I recall, she transferred after 4.5 years and 4+ indoor seasons at Texas (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023). She then was at USC for half a year, Spring 2024. As explained by others on this board, she should have up to five years to complete her eligibility if all sports. However, 2020 should be a Covid bonus year. She still has eligibility in beach volleyball because Texas didn’t start their beach program until Spring 2023 so only 2 beach campaigns for Molly. From what I’ve seen in other sports, she should be able to get her appeal approved. In fact, it’s debatable about whether she should even have to appeal since Covid should erase one of her five years on the clock.

Personally I will be thrilled when all this Covid extra year crap is over. You have 23-24 year olds still competing. Hard for 18-19 year olds to ever have a decent shot. Seems a lot are having to redshirt which then keeps them around and perpetuates the problem.

Okay, that collegiate beach VB recruiting time of year is almost upon us… the silliness of getting long term commitments from girls who just finished 10th grade. June 15th start of official contact.
Here are some lists from two sources, the VolleyballMag.com Poll results and the USAV NTDP Winter training list (which is incomplete as some girls might have conflicts or are already beyond the program. I also haven’t scrubbed the NTDP list for any non-sophomores. The U17/18 list seemed to have a lot of the top sophomores so I included that one)
VolleyballMag.com Poll Top Vote Getters (in alphabetical order): Allyn Brewer (MADSAND in Texas), Emma Champagne (MBsand) Audrey Flanagan (Elite Beach), Sara Moynihan (MBsand), Olga Nikolaeva (Elite Beach), Simone Roslon (MBsand), Jordyn Scribner (MADSAND) Sarah Wood - unquestioned Numero Uno for years.

Anybody care to make predictions on who will be committing to USC? And who do we view as the best prospects after Wood? Sounds like Champagne and Nikolaeva are high on the list.

Olga Nikolaeva You are missing players for one and for two this list is not remotely indicative of talent…a lot of the top girls are playing women’s open, not wasting their time playing 16u & 18u. You also might want to look at the Fab50 list for p1440…and girls who have been 2 time Fab50 girls as there are a few.

Haha, I am just transcribing any lists or rankings of elite sophomores that I can find. My own opinion only came in saying Sarah Wood has been #1 for many years. Just out of curiosity, how many other high school sophomores have been playing women’s open? I am happy to add any additional information suggested. Thank you for suggesting another list. The P1440 Fab50 list includes multiple classes of high schoolers including girls who just graduated and will be entering college this fall. Let me try and pull the sophomores out of this list. p1440.org/fab50/Addison Conner Bella Scherfenberg Brielle Taylor Britain Taylor Brynn Hughbanks Elizabeth Selinger Estelle Reese Izzy Masten Jordyn Scribner Julia Anisimova Keira Faragalla Olga Nikolaeva

It is an issue at some of the bigger National tournaments. The pools the first day are a joke, you can end up with the 4th seed killing everyone…really messes up the brackets 😂 the way USAVP is doing it now with only 3 top makes more sense. These girls have played some Women’s Open, some more than others and there may be others I missed: Jordyn Scribner (Made NTDP u19 Training, I believe only 26 to make that other than Wood) Allyn Brewer Kara Namimatsu Britain Taylor (played in AVP Huntington Qualifier, also 190 on USAVP rankings so above all on your list except Wood) may have been missed as she comes up as 17u….wondering if others are 17u that were missed) Brielle Taylor (played in AVP Huntington Qualifier, also 191 on USAVP so above all on list but Wood, also 30 on p1440) Sara Moynihan (may go indoor) Ruby Cochran Clara Evans Bella Scherfenberg (has a sister who is a ‘28 who is also very good) Emma Champagne Olga Nikolaeva (a lot of Open, plays with Treumann some who you listed as a 27 ) Audrey Flanagan (may go indoor) Also of note USC assistant just went and did a very small clinic in Missouri at p4:13 club. UCLA head coach, FSU head coach, LSU head coach, Texas assistant, FAU head coach, South Carolina head coach, Tulane (I think head and assistant) and Coastal Carolina (head coach) were all there. 2026s that were there: Bella Scherfenberg Blaire Bowers Britain Taylor Brielle Taylor Jordyn Scribner Clara Evans Izzy Masten (may go indoor) Julia Anisimova Brynn Hughbanks I think there may have been a few other 2026 who were local girls and did some of the smaller program clinics but this group was in USC I believe. Their club posted about it a lot on Instagram. I don’t think Wood does any of this stuff, camps, or any of that….having made Main Draw already I don’t think she needs to. She is playing with Pater this summer and I believe Fernandez in trials so I think USC or UCLA…unless Texas or someone can throw a lot of money at her. I have athletes I coach in this age group and kids talk…and oddly it seems many of them don’t seem that interested in USC. They may get Wood but not sure how many of the others will land there? Time will tell.

Guesses for top 2 pairs at USC next season? Is Coakley good enough to start right away at 1s as the blocker or will it be Maddi White? Have to think Henson is the 1s defender and then Pater vs Truslow vs Thomas for the 2s defender spot?

Have to think Henson is the 1s defender and then Pater vs Truslow vs Thomas for the 2s defender spot? Hard to say at any of these courts. Good possibility of sandbagging going on. Putting that aside, the coaches seem to rank blockers, but defenders are just slotted in depending on the weakness/strengths of each player. You have one or two blockers that set poorly, they can't be paired up with undersized hitters where it's critical they have a credible set. Some blockers go out of system more often, they need a quick, athletic defender, a fixer. You wanna pair the best players that don't have these weaknesses at the 1 or 2'? That will just compound the problems in the lower courts.
