Kennedy was an amazing pick up for USC! Not only is she a fantastic player, but she’s an absolute amazing human being! Excited to see what she can bring to the program there!

Saw this post on the 2026 commits thread Layli Ostovar USC (Indoor + Beach) www.instagram.com/layliostovar?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==Indoor “2023 MaxPreps National Sophomore POY”. 5’11” On both beach and indoor NTDP. #9 national ranking on PrepDig. Excellent commit. Will we see the first true dual indoor/beach athlete at USC? She did put USCBeach ‘30 on her IG handle.

It looks like she is super strong on the court, is she equally dominant in the sand? Is she also dominating in sand tournaments?

From her instagram, it appears she was more active in beach tournaments up until she was 15. Probably reduced beach time to focus on indoor when she got into high school but definitely had many beach reps before. Trained with the U15 and U16 NTPD for beach so coaches are aware of her skills. Here's the latest clip I could find of her 2 years ago (at age 14/15) crushing balls at a young age. http://instagram.com/p/CcBXP2_vtwx Great commit for both indoor and beach program. Wonder if being dual athlete was the selling point for her commitment.

Looks like she’s been playing for Mizuno Long Beach for at least 3 years.

Her IG shows her playing at Tstreet (Irvine) in her 12s year , 13s? maybe covid year?, and 14-17s at Mizuno.

Hmmm, when did she move to Southern California? Looks like she’s been playing for Mizuno Long Beach for at least 3 years. Yeah. Her IG shows her playing at Tstreet (Irvine) in her 12s year , 13s? maybe covid year?, and 14-17s at Mizuno. Ostavar’s trainer, Training Matrix, gave her a long compliment similar to what he gave Ky Zaengle last year. “FIGHT ON!!! ✌🏽⚔️❤️💛 HUGE congratulations to long-time Training Matrix Athlete @layliostovar on her commitment to USC for both indoor AND beach volleyball!!! Layli is the Max Preps National Player of the Year for her class, the No. 1 ranked player in the entire state of California for her class/position, a High School National Champion, a CIF State & Regional Champion, and she is a member of the Indoor AND Beach National Team (NTDP) to name a few. As incredible as all of her talents and accomplishments may seem, it wasn’t always this way and the journey never came easy for Layli as many would expect. In fact, Layli is one of the first Training Matrix Athletes EVER when I first started it up several years ago, so this announcement is beyond special. Upon our first meeting, she was just a humble, hard working, determined, sweet, and respectful young lady (as she still is today) who at the time told me about her greatest dreams of playing at the collegiate level one day. She knew she wasn’t where she needed to be and always worked tirelessly in pursuit of her best self every single day. It goes without saying that she has been a pleasure to work and grow with over the years. Her work ethic, diligence, and sacrifice overall is elite in comparison to many of those in her age group. All in all, she was consistently willing to do what others wouldn’t, and clearly, her work in the dark has truly let her shine in the light. Athletes like Layli keeps me ever-inspired. As I reminisce on those earlier days with Layli and fast forward to what an incredibly talented and most deserving young lady she is today, all I can say is that I am so proud and tremendously excited for her. USC Indoor and Beach Volleyball got a good one. Keep up the good work, Layli! FIGHT ON! ⚔️❤️💛” http://instagram.com/p/C8Vs2HZvWFV

It seems like she excels mostly in indoor, but she also has skills in beach if she is in both indoor and beach NTDP. Either way, she would be a fantastic addition to the team, and the way she is described suggests that she would make a wonderful teammate too.

As posted by bigboybobby, Jordan Scribner commits to the Trojans. Definitely in Top 5, possibly in Top 3. Very glad to get this commit. Can’t figure out how tall she is, but she seems no taller than 5’9” Rich Kern lists her height at 5-8. Thanks! Jordyn Scribner’s height is also listed as one of only 8 members of the US U19 Beach Collegiate National Team. Volleycoach2310 had alluded to Jordyn and Sarah Wood being the only 2026 players selected. usavolleyball.org/story/sixteen-athletes-participating-in-beach-u19-training-block/2024 U19 Beach Collegiate National Team Women Name (Height, Hometown, College/High School, USAV Region) Charlotta Bell (6-3, Moraga, Calif., Stanford, Northern California) Lily Dee Davis (6-2, Austin, Texas, Westlake HS, Lone Star) Elena Fisher (5-10, Ross, Calif., Branson HS, Northern California) Myriah Massey (5-10, Pickerington, Ohio, Florida State University, Ohio Valley) Sally Perez (6-3, Apex, N.C., UCLA, Carolina) Jordyn Scribner (5-8, Seabrook, Texas, Clear Falls HS, Lone Star) Sarah Wood (6-2, Glen Mills, Pa., Garnet Valley HS, Keystone) Kyra Zaengle (5-8, Laguna Beach, Calif., Laguna Beach HS, Southern California) And for anyone curious, the 2023 U19 National Team had Pater, Coakley, Wood, Massey. usavolleyball.org/beach-national-team/beach-u19-team/
