They live together and have secured team sponsorships. I see them staying together and trying to grind their way to Paris. Maybe they would split after a year if they didn't go anywhere but they are a solid team. I see them staying together, but they dont have an in for qualifying. If they don't want to split for a year to get points they are probably looking to 2028. Paris is only 2 years away when qualifying starts next summer. Can they do Norceca events to get points? I think they try their best to get points and climb the rankings but will split if they have to, to realise their potential and dreams.

Maybe they would split after a year if they didn't go anywhere but they are a solid team. Definitely a solid team but is Nuss better than Sponcil? Is it likely she ever will be? My answer to both would be no and I doubt its ever close. So if thats the case, why would Taryn turn down Sarah now if she called her? Assuming the Slaes rumors are true, who is a better option for Sarah right now? KWJ if she can stay healthy and train - but I doubt that she both 1) wants to and 2) can make it through 1-2 real seasons with that shoulder. Other than that, Taryn is Sponcil's best option other than Claes. Not sure why those two wouldn't play together if Claes and Sponcil do split, which remains a very poor choice for both players. Sarah has a higher ceiling (because she's taller, imo) and has more experience but TKN have put a lot of time into the last 5 months creating their team (TKN and Coach), branding, website, sponsorships. No way they split without giving it one solid year of hustling. Maybe they split and do a Phil and Nick over their careers but they seem pretty tight for the time being. They're super close and enjoy playing with each other.

I agree they probably won't, but if Taryn was making her decision based on "whats best for my career" and "which team would be the best" it's a pretty easy decision. Nuss is a good player, but Sponcil is one of the best defenders in the world, one of the best setters, and her offense is probably better also - hard to say until we see more of Nuss against World Tour type blockers.

They should have been playing NORCECAs 2-3 years ago like Claes/Hughes did while at USC. It’s probably too late for TKN for the Paris Olympic cycle.

Kloth decided during the last NCAA season, to commit to beach instead of playing volleyball overseas. TKN made their decision to be pro and take on the AVP and world tour in the last 6 or so months. Couldn't they still make it if the US doesn't have any top 15 female teams at the end of the Olympic qualification cycle? They would have to qualify through a NORCECA tournament.

Slaes did crumble pretty fast. They made their team instagram page in March. I'm still pretty shocked that they are splitting. www.instagram.com/teamslaes/?hl=en

I think Sponcil and Claes' games complimented each other well. Will be interesting to see how Sponcil plays with somebody else. Would Sponcil even consider Kloth? She's probably training with a bunch of different girls in California right now, while Taryn is still living in Louisiana and training with Kristen. TKN are 2-1 against Slaes and were able to push the A-team in a few sets. They have a high ceiling and I'd consider them the 2nd best US team.

In theory they could, but what are the chances US teams wouldnt be in the top 15. We had four teams qualify this time, KWJ and Stockolinske got CQ'd out but were in the top 15 I believe. (And Summer/Hughes and Day/Flint probably both also qualify if not for injuries and CQs) With the college boom just now showing its full potential it would take a ManU type disaster to keep two US teams from qualifying normally.

I'm gonna do some research on the Olympic process. It seems silly that a new team can't make their way to the Olympics. I could see April and Kerri retiring. A-Team said they'd play with each other for now and haven't made any decisions on Paris Olympics. Maybe Alix and Sponcil team up.

Anything Alix didn't hit out would be a kill

They should have been playing NORCECAs 2-3 years ago like Claes/Hughes did while at USC. It’s probably too late for TKN for the Paris Olympic cycle. It seems impossible to predict that without knowing how the new Beach Pro Tour is going to work out. Right now what's holding them back is a logjam of USA teams ahead of them. If the CQ system is a little different, they may get into some events. If they play a Futures event that doesn't have any of the top 30 teams in the world, surely their chances to win would be pretty darn good. And I'd assume in this system that if you win a Futures event, you're in good shape to get into a Challenge event. Or they split up temporarily to get with people who are able to qualify. If your partner gets injured or has some other reason to miss a tournament, Kloth or Nuss would probably be better than almost anyone else you could possibly pick up. Ultimately I think TKN will stay together. The only American team this year that was clearly ahead of them was the A-Team. With a Slaes split, I don't see how you can say any team is better than TKN. And they only turned pro five months ago. Once the details of the new format come out, they need to figure out if they can make it work together, or whether they need to split up temporarily to qualify for some tournaments.

Assuming the Slaes news is legit (which I believe it is), TKN are sticking it out (nothing shows they would want to split), and the A-Team is sticking together (which is a no-brainer). These are the potential "free-agents" out there. I kept it alphabetical so I don't have to explain my rating of them, and only kept those I thought could have potential to have some success on the FIVB (not winning events, but at least consistent 9th or better), depending on their partner choice.
Blockers: Cannon Claes Day Jones Kolinske KWJ
Defenders: Callahan Flint Hughes Mewhirter-Knudson Muno Sponcil Stockman Turner
Based on this, who do you think makes the most sense? Anyone you would add to the lists who could potentially do well on the world tour?
