The gym took water damage from Ida last month and I was led to believe that was the reason for Manhattan practicing outdoors. I didn't know about the coach and her vax status. The facility issue is I think why they are playing 2 scheduled home matches next month as road matches instead. They have already played matches in their gym. Including their lone victory

Stanford practiced outdoors because local ordinances didn't allow them to practice indoors. Outdoors was a last resort. That's not the choice facing Manhattan (allegedly). Legally, it’s the decision of is this putting athletes health and safety at risk. I’m not sure why the ‘why’ matters. If it’s unsafe, you don’t do it, whether the reason why is legitimate or not. If it’s safe, then it doesn’t matter. if practicing volleyball outdoors on sand courts is considered "unsafe", then the NCAA should ban sand/beach vb. but obviously that is not the case. (yes, there is some level of risk of injury, but that is always the case with any sport)

Update on the Winless teams:
Merrimack won a set today against Fairleigh Dickinson (26-24 2nd set). It was their 1st set win of the season. South Carolina State hasn't won a single set all season. San Francisco was up 2-0 on Portland today, but fell in 5 sets. It was their third 5th-set loss of the season. They get a crack at Portland again at home later in the season, mark your calendars! Mississippi Valley State doesn't even update their website. But, I know they won a set against Grambling State at least.

Probably the same amount of liability as Stanford last year, right? And Michigan for a while if I remember correctly. I agree with you about the stupidity of the situation, but schools much more influential than Manhattan decided that practicing outdoors was a reasonable solution. Totally the same thing. Good post! I chuckled

Merrimack gets the FD rematch this week. (SAT)
Mississippi Valley St's website claims two wins, one on Sept 11, and one on Oct 15. So not sure why they are on here as still being winless.

One undefeated team left and four remain winless South Carolina State has yet to win a set this season and their chances are running out with just two matches left on the schedule. They visit league leading Howard today and then travel to North Carolina Central on Friday. If they can't convert on either of those, they will get one final shot in the MEAC tournament against the 1 seed.

But, then, due to bizarre circumstances, they wen the MEAC tournament. Then, of course, they get sent to State College.
