I know Manhattan isn't actually in Manhattan, but where in the hell are they practicing outdoors in the Bronx? On a concrete or grass court somewhere? Aiko Jones made it work!

If Manhattan players are being forced to practice outdoors because of their coach's refusal to get vaccinated and a player suffers an injury that is made more likely or aggravated by the playing surface (say a knee injury from slipping on wet grass, or a stress injury from jumping on concrete), does Manhattan U realize how much they'll have to pay for that?

Manhattan is neither winless nor undefeated.
They are 1-10

Looking at their record the last few years, one could reasonably believe that they don't care much about their volleyball program.

I imagine if they don't care much about their volleyball program, they have an even heightened requirement for coaches to avoid the school getting sued for it.

What a joke. How does she still have a job? How does AD still have a job? Why is Manhattan a d1 school? Would you want to coach Manhattan? Never should have fired Mark. Fair point - it is a lousy job that has been made more lousy in the last few years...but still. I suppose my last question is the real question. If M doesn't want to do the minimum things a d1 program should do why do they continue to pretend to be a d1 program. I can think of several other schools that come close to the same standard of poop, but some of the things Manhattan is (or isn't doing) really make you question their motivations.

I call BS on practicing outdoors. There's just no plausible deniability for the coach in matches. I know Manhattan isn't actually in Manhattan, but where in the hell are they practicing outdoors in the Bronx? On a concrete or grass court somewhere? Players have said it is sand courts...not that they have many healthy players left.

Probably the same amount of liability as Stanford last year, right? And Michigan for a while if I remember correctly. I agree with you about the stupidity of the situation, but schools much more influential than Manhattan decided that practicing outdoors was a reasonable solution.

Stanford practiced outdoors because local ordinances didn't allow them to practice indoors. Outdoors was a last resort. That's not the choice facing Manhattan (allegedly).

What is each winless team's best chance for a W? None of them play each other.
Merrimack gets Fairleigh Dickenson twice. Mississippi Valley gets to play in the Swac, while S Carolina St gets to play in the Meac. Looks like pretty tough sledding for San Fran.

Legally, it’s the decision of is this putting athletes health and safety at risk. I’m not sure why the ‘why’ matters. If it’s unsafe, you don’t do it, whether the reason why is legitimate or not. If it’s safe, then it doesn’t matter.

The gym took water damage from Ida last month and I was led to believe that was the reason for Manhattan practicing outdoors. I didn't know about the coach and her vax status.
The facility issue is I think why they are playing 2 scheduled home matches next month as road matches instead.
