No surprises. Sato (he was with the A team in the team-wide friendlies) fills in for Kentaro

Hmm. They have to make one more cut. I wonder if they risk it with Leon and cut Kwolek or cut a middle 🤔 Not that they have any say but I gotta imagine Perugia is holding prayer vigils that Leon does not play. Leon is such a gamble though. Coming from a surgery and not played competitively after the surgery. Sliwka gets pressured playing for the NT but I will bet on him than Leon at this point.

Leon had talks with doctors and the coaching staff… it was decided that it’s too risky for him to play in the WCH. Therefore, he won’t be participating in the WCH.

Not surprised.
France has the best shot in winning this. They will be using the roster they used in the VNL. Maybe a tweak here and there but their starters would be their olympic starters.
USA will be in transition with the addition of Anderson and Averil. They are not new to the system but they haven't played with each other in the early summer.
Argentina's roster is good but the same situation with USA.
Brazil, Brazil. I am so surprise how big of a difference the team is with the departure of M.Souza. I think they have prepared themselves with Wallace's departure but that 2nd middle puzzled themselves. Though Flavio rose up at the latter part of the VNL. Let's see let's see. But I'm still putting Argentina ahead of them.

China is currently playing in the Asian Cup with their team A / World Championship pool. Watched their match against Iran who for the most part kept a close score and surprisingly stole the third set. Fourth set China put the gears on and ran with it. Iran's squad is young, players born in 2003-2004, but the potential is there. Their opposite stood out the most. China still got a long way to go, but they're making strides in the right direction. They added a bigger middle, Zhang Zhejia adding even more depth to their current starters. They're trying a veteran opposite, but not as consistent and very similar to the ones used in VNL. Hopefully Jiang Chuan can return in time for WCH.

Poland needs Kubiak and a good setter more than Leon, quite frankly.

Poland needs Kubiak and a good setter more than Leon, quite frankly. I think the setter they have used are ok. But I do agree that they need Kubiak more than ever. Because the OH responsibility is not just the left side attacks but also the passing. Which so far none has delivered for Poland.
