Okay: about these teams and the match. I know that the University in Madison has a whole buncha affiliated campuses throughout the state. Some are pretty hot in D3, alomg with some teams with real ice hockey prowess. Is UW-GB a D1 school? Yes, Green Bay & Milwaukee are both D1. Marquette is also a Wisconsin (private) D1 school that is not in the UW system.

I think UW Green Bay and UW Milwaukee are no more "affiliated" with UW Madison than Eastern or Western Michigan is with UM in Ann Arbor - except that they are part of the same state system. Am I wrong? I was unsure what the setup is with UW. I really meant branch campuses...much like UC Berkeley is the "mothership" of the UC system: with nine branch campuses. "Affiliated" was the only word which came to mind, not knowing the UW structure.

Yes, much like the "University of California" has many schools or campuses as part of the same organization with UCLA and UC Santa Barbara and UC San Diego etc etc as well as UC Berkeley, The University of Wisconsin system has many campuses like UW-Milwaukee, UW-Green Bay, UW-Oshkosh etc etc as well as UW-Madison. All governed by the same UW Board of Regents. (UW-Whitewater and UW-Platteville will many D3 championships.) To the best of my knowledge, Univ of Michigan has a couple other campuses besides Ann Arbor - though many fewer that UC or UW systems - but Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan are not part of it. (Some states have a "state school" system as well; California does, with Cal State-Los Angeles, Cal State-Northridge etc etc. And sometimes those schools decide to use a different 'form' of name; for example Cal State-Sacramento decided at some point to become known as Sacramento State. Minnesota also has both 'systems', with Univ of Minnesota-Twin Cities and Univ of Minnesota-Duluth, as well as St Cloud State and Bemidji State and Minn State-Mankato. Wisconsin used to have two such systems, but they merged in the late 1960s maybe.)

Good to know.

Cal State-Sacramento decided at some point to become known as Sacramento State. Actually I know about the case of Sac State (as we call it where I grew up). It's the other way around: it was always Sacramento State...and then they tried to force a name change to CSUS, and nobody wanted to use the new name. Same with Chico State and LBSU (not CSULB). Some newer campuses (CSU East Bay) adapted.

I was living in suburban LA (for a pretty long time) and I remember the change with regard to references to the football team maybe around the mid 1990s or so? I thought it was the way I wrote, but I could certainly be wrong. Maybe a "locals" vs how it was referred to in LA kind of thing? ----------------- I had to google the UC system when you said only nine; I would have guess more off the top of my head, But it is ten, they added Merced in 2005. And I thought I remembered they were working on one for Oxnard/Camarillo, etc, but it isn't on the list.

Am I wrong? You are correct. As opposed to Penn State and Ohio State, where each school is a branch campus. Ex. PSU - Mont Alto, OSU - Newark. UW is no different than SUNY Albany vs. SUNY Binghamton. UWS formed in 1972 and merged two systems including the UW colleges. UWGB was planned to have about 12k students but they never got the resources to expand so it's about 5k. It is the only D 1 school except Madison. Horizon Conference. UW Parkside is D2. Rest are D 3.

VS GB, Sheff should give his bench some time, either way it should be a quick match. Starting lineup proposed
OH - Demps, Jardine MB Smrek, Hart/Rettke RS - Wohlert S - MJ Lib - Macdonald DS - Reed
Need to get Gregorski some quality time, GB is 30 miles from her hometown. Not that Madison is all that far either but let grandparents and other family/friends make the short trek north. Edit: Whoops, should pay attention to location better
