BYU - Weber St was a month ago. They haven't dropped a set in weeks, including to Utah. I haven't ranked Florida in weeks. I can't read schedules apparently. My b. Frankly though, I still don't see how they did anything to leap frog a team like Kentucky, for example. Well only 4 points separate 7-9, so the difference in ranking is just noise.

Initial reaction: shocked Florida held on to its ranking, even by the thread that it did. I still ranked them in the 20s. They don't deserve it for the way they're playing now but I think they'll turn it around by the end of the season. If they play the way they did against MS State for long, I'll drop them. I base quite a bit of my ranking on how I think the team will do in the tournament and I still think FL will be a Sweet 16 team (or better). The last time they missed was 2016. They have so much talent. Makes sense. And with more improved teams in the SEC, they’ll have plenty of chances to prove improvement. I didn’t rank them this week because I was already a bit bullish on them in my last couple polls. And I think I was feeling extra ‘punishy’ this week. I’ll wait for them to show me they deserve back in.

UCLA at 12 is interesting…
I mean on paper a win at Stanford is big, but watching the game it didn’t seem to be a well played match

This week was hard. Thoughts: -I like the Baylor move. They seem to have figured out their lineup finally (Aka when you transfer in hitters like Skinner and Harrison, players like VDM don't need to be on the court). - BYU moved up three spots for....going 5 with Weber St ? Huh? -Creighton is likely better than we are giving them credit for, I think. -Yikes, Florida I put Baylor at 4 now...hard to figure out #4. The BYU/Weber State 5-setter was back on 9/2, the only sets they lost since that date was in the 1-3 loss to Pitt. I have them at 7 as I think that match was a wake-up call. Creighton tough 3-0 win versus Kentucky keeps them ahead for me, but the 3-0 loss to Nebraska (I watched that, and probably a affected by the moment, it happens). I know I have Kentucky way too low (18), but their only ranked win of the season is against Stanford 3-2 at home, losses are all good matches to ranked teams. Florida dropped out for me for now with the only ranked win of Minnesota at home on 9/5, but two losses to unranked teams and no ranked wins since then makes it tough to keep them in. They are banged up, so I imagine they will move back up if they can get healthy. Not a team anyone would want to face in the first or second round in the tournament, I started them at #3!!

I like Baylor and Minnesota moving up. Not sure why Kentucky dropped so much though. Minnesota dropped not moved up. Agree on Baylor. awkward

I think BYU is kind of a tough team to rank. They only have one loss at Pitt, and their starting OH1 didn't play in that match. That said, they haven't played the most difficult schedule, but they have looked good in their matches, especially since the loss. 7-10 seems about right to me.

I don't think we're going to know much more about BYU until they take a road trip to SoCal in the middle of October to take on LMU and Pepperdine. If they win those matches convincingly (assuming no injury issues), then at least will have some reaffirming information.

They do have an injury to their OH2, Erin Livingston, right now, as she sprained her ankle against Utah. I would hope that she would be available for the LMU and Pepperdine matches, but it's hard to say.
