The Cinderella analogy is not a perfect fit here because Cinderella got the respect and attention of the audience at the ball before she had to make a hasty exit. Ole Miss Volleyball is apparently the Rodney Dangerfield of women's volleyball. Sure, their schedule does not exactly feature the who's who of the volleyball world, but they did deal out the lone loss to Western Kentucky, who is currently ranked 21st, despite not having a murderous schedule either. Kentucky is ranked 6th with 3 losses. Their only significant victory is Stanford (sorry Marquette and USC). They flunked their other major tests, yet they maintain a top six status? Polls are nothing but biased beauty pageants. The Blue bloods get the benefit of name recognition that schools like Ole Miss and others don't receive. The good news is that the polls don't determine the seeding and the rankings will become more clear as the season progresses. If the Lady Rebels take down Kentucky and at least one match from Florida, they will finally get at least a portion of the recognition they deserve after winning their first 12 games from both the pollsters and the fans. In this battle of former John Cook protégées, I'm pulling for Kayla and the Lady Rebels to earn their place at the Prince's ball. Oh yeah, and a gentle reminder that last year when Ole Miss was pretty bad, they broke Kentucky's 38 game win streak with a 25-21 victory in Lexington.

Yep. To apply another fairy tale here - the bigger they are, the harder they fall. I think Kentucky is handling the loss of Avery Skinner, but they really miss Madison Lilly.

Cinderella comes back to reality here and is removed from the list of unbeatens yeah, and I hope they’re embarrassed when it happens too. How dare they beat all the teams on their schedule and let people put them on the same list as Louisville, Pitt, and Texas. They don’t deserve that. They should have done the noble thing and lost to western Kentucky (who had no tougher non-conf schedule than Ole Miss btw). Or they should have lost to Troy like Alabama and LSU did. Or lost to Indiana like Michigan state did. How dare they. Can’t wait for them to come back to reality and lose to the defending National champs and 6th ranked team, who have an 84% win probability. Those jerks… finally gonna get what they deserve.
