So except for the 7-0 run that flipped the first set, that would have felt like a fairly easy win. But that run was similar enough to Maryland that it 'colored' the rest of the day. Credit to the Illini servers to get that done.

They got dramatically better as the match went along; always good to see that.

Credit to the Illini servers to get that done. It's worrisome how they give up those runs. An old brittleness creeping back in. I think the lineup changes have a lot to do with it though.

Barnes vs Barnes:
Lauren - 26 digs, 11 serve-receive, one error.
Caroline - 4 digs, 17 serve receive, one error (playing essentially half as many rotations)
So maybe a little trash-talk ammo for both.

Credit to the Illini servers to get that done. I arrived late due to storms en route right as that nice Badger first lead went poof. Badgers started getting more positive touches on blocks and digs later on and IL starting making errors. Also Jardine really gets on the ball fast. Orzol must have had a few kills before I arrived but for a good set and a half was error prone on serve and swings but turned it around in later sets.I thought Loberg did a nice job not getting blocked - kinda Gopher style if you will. Dev is impressive- bounced one right up near me into the stands. A Rettke leaving consolation of her and Hart at middle next fall is a nice thing. All in all a good road win - IL is a good team.

I don't understand the questions about parking. Isn't there an acre of parking down the street at State Farm Arena? Maybe "down the street" is a long way for some folks? Or can't you park at State Farm anymore?

Between the long service runs and the inability to close sets, there is definitely a vulnerability they need to fix. Has anyone observed what rotation is the source of the long runs by the other team?

I don't know about specific numbers, etc., but I know the horrible run at the end of the 5th set vs Maryland was against exactly who you'd want on the court: Robinson, Rettke, Orzol, Barnes, Civita, and Hilley. Still boggles my mind...

Good W, Badgers. See you again (very) soon. Except for a few exceptions, the matches in Madison always seem to be tighter affairs.

Wisconsin has an embarrassment of riches as far as players go. Can a coach ever have too much talent? I believe that covid has made Sheffield's coaching job more difficult in terms of keeping all of his athletes happy. Sheffield and Cook are the two best recruiters in the B1G if not in the country. Wisconsin's second string (if you can determine who is the first six) would probably finish in the top half of the conference.
