This is a toss up for me. I'm leaning towards giving it to ASU, but I do think that it will go 4 or 5 sets. If CAL can get to the 5th set they have a great chance, since ASU has a poor 5 set record.

Starters: Mirkovic, Smoot at OH Bergmark, Hamm at MB Maeder at S Schmidt at Opp Belizzi at L Running a 6-2 with Jensen and Lilomaiva
Both teams trading points until about 8, then California went on a run to take a 13-8 lead, forcing ASU to use their 1st timeout
Cal continues to score until ASU uses their 2nd timeout at 17-11
Passing looks better to start, able to set Bergmark more. Also good that they are using Smoot out of the backrow

ASU always seem to start slow, and CAL is taking advantage.

Cal takes set 1.
ASU out of system a lot, not sure if their passing is bad , but Cal's serving looks pretty tough from the video.

ASU stormed out to a 4 point lead until Cal launches comeback on Mirkovic's serve to take the lead at 8, but ASU goes on another run to go up 13-10 with a few blocks.
Nice to see the Cal defense with some incredible saves. Hamm was able to score passing a ball across the length of the net as the ASU OH misread and let drop. Mirkovic made a great play on thee 3rd contact diving toward the Cal end line swinging 1 arm and getting the ball over the net, although it was a free ball that ASU just killed

ASU takes huge 19-12 forcing Cal timeout. val take the next 3 behind a great out of system swing into the opposite corner by Lilomaiva and 2 aces by Master, before an ASU timeout

ASU takes next 2 with help from Bellizi's bad passing before block from Hamm, but still trailing 22-17

ASU takes set 2 25-19 on a setter dump.
Should mention that DeSa has been subbing in for Smoot to help stabilize the passing, although we lose Smoot's back row attack.
Also sighted Grote in uniform during the timeout enthusiastically cheering on her teammates

ASU woke up and took set 2 25-19, lead by Isanovic with 9 kills. Middles effective too. CAL passing breaking down.
