VT Player of the Week Nominations -The purpose of this thread will be for anyone to throw out nominations for any VT Players of the Week awards. This will help the VT POW Committee make a more informed decision. Who should be National Player of the Week? Who is deserving of Freshman of the Week in the [insert conference here]? (these are just examples) I would suggest adding a little blurb on why your nomination is worthy, but if you just want to share a nomination for 1 award, that is okay. More input & insight always helps. Some conferences have each coach nominate a player from their respective team for each award, so homer picks are welcome here too! P.S. You do NOT need to be on the committee to submit picks for players of the week. Anyone can participate!!

Georgia (SEC) Phoebe Awoleye (MB) had 10 kills (.571), 1 block assist, and 7 digs in a sweep of TAMU
Washington State (PAC-12) Magda Jehlářová (MB) had 11 kills (.667), 3 digs, 2 solo blocks, 1 block assist in a sweep of Arizona State frosh Katy Ryan (Opp) had 7 kills (.545), 2 digs, and 2 block assists in a sweep of Arizona State
We'll have to see how players do in the second match this week but these players had a very good match to start their week.

When so many of the Cougar hitters did well (both middles had 11 kills in 3 sets, and the opp hit .545), I'm thinking Pukis had something to do with it.

Kubik had a nice match, ignoring the hitting percentage. I respect what Kubik did out there, especially passing and her aggressive swings, but I was more impressed with this one:

We'll see how she does against the tougher competition of Oregon on Sunday

Mac May had 22 kills (.405), 2 aces, 3 digs and a block assist in a sweep of Colorado. Frosh Francesca Alupei (MB) had 6 kills and hit .625 in the sweep. She also had 4 block assists. Overall, every hitter on the team except Emily Ryan (who came in at the end and had 0 kills on 2 attempts) hit over .350 so Shelby Martin deserves credit. She had 42 assists, 6 digs, 3 block assists, and an ace.
Some of the Oregon players also had good numbers (e.g., Morgan Lewis had 9 kills and hit .643) but I didn't watch any of that match so I'll let someone else nominate Oregon players.
