Do we think that firing coaches mid-season (before signing day) will become more of a trend going forward? Seems to be more than normal in football and volleyball this fall but maybe I'm not remembering as well as I should. I think if administration knows they're making a change, doing it before signing day is a way of treating recruits well. Hopefully they still allow those recruits to sign if they wish. But I think it's a positive.

But I think it's a positive. I'm torn... On the one hand it allows the staff/program/PSAs a clear picture to move forward... Allows the staff to prepare for the job season... On the other hand the optics are horrible for the future job search (assuming separation without cause and just a change of guard).

I also think if an AD knows the players in a program are unhappy and likely to enter the portal, then firing a coach before the season ends may be a way to keep some of those players (assuming you want to keep them). Just another thought.

This is either the 13th or 14th time it has been open in the last five years. March 2019 - Departing coach's hired date. 2011 - 2021 Seasons: * Six coaches * Departing coach longest tenured, at 3 seasons. * 58 - 232 W/L (.200%) --- NOT implying it hasn't been posted multiple times, simply posting program stats. ---
