Minnesota's got the goods. If they have their top players all on the court playing well (at the same time), they can give themselves a chance to beat any team in the country. Talent and drive are there. Now just the execution. It can happen.

How fortunate is Minnesota that Airi came back for another season? They'd be in serious trouble with OH depth otherwise.

What happened with Samedy tonight? That (.026) has to be her lowest hitting percentage as a Gopher.

MN won, but I didn't feel confident that they were going to pull it off. Rough weekend. I've made peace with MN - it's gonna be a bumpy year and will probably be their worst year in a while.
Given their preseason rank, the fact that all of their losses have been to ranked teams (until last night's loss), and a couple of nice looking wins, I'm been convincing myself that some switch is gonna go on and MN will get it all together, and possibly make a deep NCAA run.
I'm not a stone cold pessimist - I still think they have good pieces and could improve a lot. But, if not, I get it. Things don't always fall into place.
Yup, they’ve got some great players, terrific coach, but also some glaring challenges.

Airi has quietly put up some solid numbers when needed. We would be getting large doses of Natalie Glenn if Airi wasn't on the team.

The energy used for all of those back row attacks is significant. Tough 5 set loss that ended at midnight and then travel and play an early evening match the next day. The schedule set-up was difficult. Steph with 54 swings and 22 digs last night!

Also playing Crowl at RS and having Samedy move to OH could be an option. There are still quite a few chess pieces that Hugh could move around. The OH depth isn't as dire as some people think.

The Gophers have to get Landfair healthy but you are right. Is there actually anything wrong with her, physically?
I think she is suffering from an ailment ... but it is between the ears (confidence, etc.).

It's too bad we won't work harder on running the slide instead of trying to force Samedy to attack out of the back right.

That made sense to me ..... but then this weekend.
I don't think they get a seed in the tourney. They host a first round, then hit the round, and don't make it past whatever seed they travel to.

If they host, that means they did get a seed. And they would host not just the first round but the first two.

Hugh is reluctant to making changes..Shaffmaster is his starting setter and Samedy his 6R RS. So, are there really any other changes he can make, at this time, especially with Landfair out? I think we all know the answer to that.

Hugh has multiple Olympic medals, B1G titles and final four appearances, not to mention a spot in the hall of fame. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say there’s a possibility he might know what he’s doing.

You're right. If Miyabe hadn't come back, everything would be just swell. Just play Samedy where she has never played before and use the frosh who hasn't even played this year.
