We've had the take on my show before that Aaron Russell should go to Taranto Think about it. Taranto isn't nearly as bad as their record says, they don't have very many foreigners so they would have no problem starting Russell every match, and they need an offensive outside. Russell needs a place to play every single point and be "the guy" to get his confidence back. He'd almost certainly keep Taranto out of relegation position. Think about it!! He is the highest paid player on the team and Bernardi treats him like a yoyo for 2 years. Russell is an American and coach's son who is just by nature trained to nod his head and say yessir and no sir. This seemingly doesn't always float in the Euroworld. Maybe becoming a bit more vociferous and selfish is needed? I've seen too many matches this and last year where Bernardi was simply outcoached.

Someone in Piacenza needs to tell Brizard to stop setting Lagumdzija during crucial moments.
You have Aaron Russell. Set him a fast high ball. 🙄

In other news: It looks like Valentia's acquirement of Nelli is doing them some real good against Modena.

You have to have 3 Italians in your starting 7 at all times, which for Piacenza prevents them from playing their best possible lineup. They'll always have an Italian libero and one Italian middle, but they have to choose between using that third Italian spot on another middle or an outside. So you'll never see a lineup with all three of Holt, Rossard, and Russell for Piacenza
This assumes Brizard and Lagumdzija start, but their backup setter and opposite are also foreign so it doesn't matter

Watched the Milano-Piacenza replay. Definitely some great contributions all around, nice defense, and great transition plays. I thought Porro managed the game well, and Milano's middles were awesome. Nice to see Ishikawa have an excellent match too.
Piacenza didn't seem to be in as much rhythm, but Russell was solid offensively when they gave him the chance. Stern and Antonov weren't very good serving subs... similarly, the Mosca blocking sub for Milano never seems to work out well enough IMO.
For Team USA, I think a pairing of Jaeschke and one of Russell/DeFalco should be given serious consideration. As discussed previously, Jaeschke's stability and smart play could pay off in the long run even if you have to sacrifice a little bit of offense or jaw-dropping plays that other players might bring. At the very least, I hope Speraw is willing to use Jaeschke more.

Milano swept Vibo. Solid contributions all around, stellar passing/blocking, and a nice match from Porro. Jaeshcke was awesome passing 72/61 and hitting 14-1-20 for a .650 hitting %.
Vibo just could not compete in the serve/pass game and besides their middles could not terminate well. Mauricio hit negative. Nishida did not play. It was cool to see the Japan Fan Club supporting Ishikawa/Nishida.
