Honestly, is there any American outside having a better pro volleyball season than Jaeschke right now? I'm not counting Anderson because he better stay as an OPP on the USA national team until he retires. Though, if Russell was on another team, I'm sure he'd be lighting it up... Anyone know how DeFalco is doing? Are there other OHs emerging in the other leagues that the national team could rely on? Haven't been able to keep up as much with the other leagues cuz I've been busy lately and the Italian league is most accessible. Looking at the PlusLiga stats... if I'm reading correctly, it looks like DeFalco is scoring really well (serve, block, attack). His passing seems to be holding up too although passing stats are always difficult to assess. I'm also curious if there are other emerging OHs, but as far as I can tell the answer seems to be no. At least not yet, seems like many of the potential candidates don't have a high enough level of experience yet.... I'm sure USA will need some fresh faces to fill out tournament rosters some time soon tho. The whole Russell situation is difficult. Jaeschke is benefitting from being a core player on a solid Italian team, and his shots are just so smart. I wouldn't be mad at a Russell/DeFalco pairing because I see the potential upside of that (the passing would be a question mark)... but I just love what Jaeschke brings.

Defalco is indeed one of the best outside hitters statistically in Plusliga right now, even though his team is only in the middle of the table.
Benjamin Patch is doing pretty well in Germany, he scores well at ridiculously high efficiency at times. Of course, Berlin is ahead of any domestic competition by a long shot and they honestly don't even need Patch to be the best team in the country.
Micah Christenson is probably doing the best right now, under his impulse he pushed Zenit Kazan back on top in Russia. Winning the CEV Cup is an obligation for them at this point, especially now with Modena out.

I like both teams and that was an enjoyable match. I would've wanted a Milano win but well-deserved win for Verona. Rok Mozic is just amazing, and its sad to watch Patry play like that this season considering he performed really well in Tokyo just months before. Finally watched the match and it was well played by both teams IMO. Milano just had some really untimely errors in the fifth set and Verona made plays in crunch time. For Milano, I love their utilization of middle especially Chinenyeze in transition or in medium system. Also, #TeamJaeschke. Verona's offense allowed them to win the match, particularly with some nice contributions from Qafarena and Magalini. Mozic was doing Mozic things as many have mentioned, and good to see his passing line was great. I must say, it was satisfying to finally not have the commentators curse at the end (but also sad because Ishikawa was the one who was aced and he passed 76/52 on the match with 33 receptions). Me??? Commentator's curse??? Nooooo, never....

Wow, Nishida went on a huge service run with multiple aces to help Vibo take the first set against Taranto.

Loeppky had a good offensive match against Ravenna, although 7% perfect passing is a bit low. Bottolo was solid too. Padova did have twice as many service errors but that doesn’t tell the whole story of course.
Tough match for Piacenza. Russell was given a very short chance and didn’t play too well. Love watching Recine but setting was eek at times. Looks like Recine will stay with Piacenza for a few more years. Cisterna had solid blocking and their offense was clean, nice win.
Nishida had 20 kills and 8! aces against Taranto, but also could cut down the errors. The Brazilians had great matches. Taranto was blocking Nishida nicely, although their passing broke down at times.

Great episode of the 9x9 this week breaking down the weekend of SuperLega action, featuring Trentino 2-3 Modena and the Verona 3-2 Milano barn burner. That Rok Mozic statline still blows my mind The 9x9 is live every Tuesday at 7:30 PM EST where we go over everything in the world of pro volleyball, men's and women's, from a North American perspective. Would very much appreciate more viewership from this forum that keeps up to date on everything, or if you need one place to get everything from the week of volleyball in one place, we got you.

Monza sweeps Padova. Monza's offense was really clean. Grozer had 11 kills in the sweep. Loeppky had a meh match, Bottolo was decent, and Weber had a hot hand.
