Verona takes the match 3-1. Ravenna showed some life in set 4 but just couldn't maintain it.

Matt Anderson 14 points Aaron Russell 18 points(3 sets) Hopefully Bernardi had his eyes open. 100$ he sits Russell on the bench to start against Trentino tomorrow. Bernardi has lost this team.

Someone tell Brizard that there are other ways to play volleyball without Holt.

Did some catching up....
Looks like the Takahashi at libero experiment didn't really work out too well. I still think his serve receive could be an asset, maybe if he was subbed in more in previous matches, he would be more confident. It was nice to see Patry have a good match
Nishida was quite good against Perugia, although the service errors are still a concern. Mauricio was bad offensively, while Fromm struggled in reception. Thought they did a decent job defending Leon tho.

Vibo using the double sub early on in set 1 against Trentino
Trentino’s block is strong… Nishida getting some tough sets, but no one other than Flavio has been impressing really

The more I watch Piacenza the more I see significant inconsistent setting from Brizard.
Choice and location are mind boggling

Trentino sweeps Vibo. Mauricio's performance offensively has been disappointing... Fromm is actually playing decently too, but having little to no offense from Mauricio really puts the pressure on the others. Hard to feed the ball to the middle with some of Vibo's passing too (credit to Trentino's serve).

I commentated the Vibo-Trentino game, and I'd be lying if I said Nishida's uninspiring performance didn't make me smirk internally a bit when thinking about all the fanboys' reactions...
"Uncle Mo", as we like to call Mauricio, is having one of the worst offensive seasons I've ever seen. But Trentino is the team everybody should be talking about here. Check out Lisinac's stat line: 16 points, 9/9 attacking, 4 blocks, 3 aces, 1 MVP award, 0 errors of any kind (!!!!!!!!!)

I think everyone was put on notice by Trentino when they won the SuperCoppa. What I wonder about with them is if they can sustain enough momentum to take a best of 5 series. They are the only team to beat Perugia twice. They swept them back in October at the SuperCoppa semifinals. They also beat them in five sets on January 2nd. Perugia swept them twice in the Champions League and once in the SuperLega. I don't think Trentino was 100% in one of the Champions League matches. If they have everyone healthy, the three OH system they use is effective.

Trentino's second win over Perugia was during the regular season when Simone Giannelli tested positive for Covid the morning of the match, and Perugia still took it to 5 sets with the embarrassment that is Dragan Travica setting...I agree, I don't see Trentino beating Modena, Lube, or Perugia in a 5 match series in the playoffs, and I don't see them getting past Perugia in Champions League, assuming they do get past Berlin, but I really like the system they play and am curious to see how far it can take them.
