Way to battle Wahine! Blocking, serve receive, and weak serving are still a huge concern for this team. Good enough to beat the Big West teams though...

Hawaii’s percentages are decent but the actual spread in the numbers look good.

I wish Williams got recognition for player of the match too, she played really well tonight.

Poor Akana, she got pulled at 7-1 in the first and never got back in the game Leo brought too much. Making me wonder who's gonna start vs UCSB

YUP! This has got to be the weakest serving Hawaii team in the last couple of decades. We got spoiled with all the good jump servers we've had in the past!

What do you guys think about Leoniak for Akana tonight? Martyna did not hit for a high percentage but she did have 9 digs….something Akana does not bring to the table.
Should Robyn continue to play Martyna or would Akana be a better option there? I do think we need some size on the right for blocking. Offensively, Akana might be a tad better but Leoniak provides better blocking, defense and serving.

I'm thinking Igiede, Wlliams, and Lang for BW weekly honors

I like Gong if it it’s a night where we have to free BVS from passing I don’t. At least not all the time maybe situational. Gong is also awkward af. Well this set comeback did happen because we did exactly that but ideally, you want BVS in there diming a pass and getting the kill. I think as long as Leo connects with Lang on that D set we’ll see more of her there. Feel like she would be better off just flying into the set but the location was meh. Though you could tell it’s been something that’s looked good in practice at some point with how often they to it.

But yeah if Akana struggles then Leo. Leo is good but her spikes don't have the pace that Akana's does. Leo was on par hitting in the 100's which has been her season average....

Poor Akana, she got pulled at 7-1 in the first and never got back in the game hope that doesn't bring down her confidence. each team is different and it's so easy to be hot and cold (speaking from experience as an OPP lol). regarding leo vs akana, it's hard to say since the OPP position is basically experimental. i prefer akana's offense but leo's defense.

The hitting percentage might have been due to the low sets

Leo is young (just turned 18) so with another year of weight training under her belt she will be a force....in the future.....
