Is it my perception or does Nebraska usually start off with lower tier teams from the B10 earlier in conference play? Before anyone says Penn St isn’t a lower tier team I’m not saying that it just seems like it’s usually heavy on the back end of the schedule. Maybe for the drama of TV ratings later in the season, with a younger team it seems to help allowing the freshman time to gel before the heart of the schedule. Notable first-half B1G match-ups: 2011: Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota 2012: Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois 2013: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Purdue 2014: Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota, Wisconsin 2015: Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin 2016: Ohio State (twice), Minnesota, Wisconsin 2017: Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin (twice), Michigan State 2018: Illinois, Minnesota (twice), Wisconsin, Penn State 2019: Wisconsin, Purdue (twice) 2020: Minnesota (twice), should have been Wisconsin twice but was cancelled 2021: Penn State, Illinois, Purdue Do with that information what you will.

Also don't come at me if I included or excluded a team in a specific year. Mainly going off of memory here as far as toughness. I used huskers.com to look up the schedules.

Maybe for the drama of TV ratings later in the season, with a younger team it seems to help allowing the freshman time to gel before the heart of the schedule. In 2015-2018 it certainly wasn’t the case. But this year, and in the spring I would say Nebraska had an easier start to the schedule. I do think tougher matches later in the season might be better for TV, especially with the Big Ten title on the line. So maybe the schedulers try to save some big matches for the last few weekends? Ok, I was too lazy to go back too far in the schedule so maybe it’s just recent memory. I can see tv networks would want the conference championship settled in the last 2-3 weeks. I assume NU vs Wisc in early October is the same game but would probably get better ratings in late November with the Conf championship on the line.

This is going to be a corn-fest for one of these teams, and it won't be the team in yellow and black.
