Not looking to start a fight or whatever - she's a great setter - but does anyone else think Pedraza "catches" the ball for just a beat too long when she's setting a quick to the middle? Not every one, and not on anything else. But watching live tonight, I just thought I saw that a good number of times. And i kept waiting for one to get called, but none was. After one of them, I looked over at the UW bench and Anna Macdonald seemed to be saying the same thing with her hands to whoever. I'll have to watch the video and see if it looks that way there.
Anyway, great match by both teams. Like Creed said at the end of "Rocky": ain't gonna be no rematch... don't want one.

It was nice to see Smrek hitting on the right, but she needs some work. Demps is getting better each match. Her blocking is coming along and she is much smarter with her shot selection.
Orzol was Orzol, i just love the girl

Orzol was Orzol, i just love the girl The ball Smrek blocked straight down was fun to watch, however, and the overpass she forced on the serve was pivotal in the match. |

I’ll never understand why Civita didn’t ever start over Barnes at libero. Her passing especially on serve receive is just gorgeous. Just logged in to say “Yea Civita!” It was so great to see her in, serving and firing people up. She was all up in Barnes’ face when Barnes went on a serving run, like “F*@k yeah…give ‘em another!” Civita’s a great emotional rock for the Badgers even with an injured knee.
That was a great duke out…especially in the 1st and 2nd sets!

as in what is she doing to produce that stat line For starters, they had her hitting out of the left for a rotation, which was bonkers and didn’t work. She’s getting garbage and not hitting with authority. All timid. The timing and connection between her and Syd seems off. I don't think that was where the majoruty of her errors came from. I don't think Hilley wasn't disguising her sets well and she was being read. Robinson wasn't ripping it. More importantly, she was predictable with what she was doing. |

It didn’t work in the middle either! I thought middle was her “natural” position? I really liked her on the right last year. She was a middle in high school and club and moved to the right in 2020-21 due to the Badger lineup. She was on the u-20 gold medal team as a middle named best blocker. She is special there and needs to adjust. |

My husband and I both remarked last night hope Orzol reminds us of a less vertical Gabi from. She plays like an under-sized Brazilian outside who thrives on speed and tooling the block. |
