I once heard a fact that stated: It's farther from Beaumont, Texas to El Paso, Texas than it is from El Paso to the Pacific Ocean. I never bothered to fact check it but it was an eye opener to how huge Texas is geographically. On a related note, northeastern Tennessee is closer to Canada than to Memphis. I have family there. Johnson City/Bristol area. That sounds unbelievable.

You need to recalibrate your sarcasm meter because it's broken. I happen to know about the Detroit and Buffalo bridges since I've crossed both multiple times.

You're welcome.

Conference USA is close to dead at this point unless they start calling up FCS schools. So they are hanging the three former Sunbelt members out to dry? That proves that money isn't the be all end all. Vengeance plays a role too. Yep. The Sun Belt seems to particularly dislike Louisiana Tech. I also learned that UCF really, really dislikes USF because USF did everything they could to keep UCF out of the old Big East. I get it. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples along these lines throughout the country.

Conference USA is close to dead at this point unless they start calling up FCS schools. Conference USA was originally started with the idea that it wouldn't be for the long haul. It was supposed to be a landing spot for schools that got shut out during previous realignments, with the idea that they would stay until they could find a landing spot in a bigger conference. Seems like it served its function.

And you could argue that a lot of the G5 conferences are places that schools would stay until they can get a landing spot in a bigger conference. Utah, TCU and BYU all left the Mountain West, and Cincinnati, Houston and UCF are leaving the AAC. And certainly, Boise State, San Diego State, Memphis, SMU, etc. would be interested in moving to a better conference if they were afforded the opportunity.

If the WAC and Big West are still around, then CUSA will survive too.
These conferences are even harder to kill off than a govt agency that is no longer useful.

C-USA, trying to stay viable, is talking to New Mexico St, UConn and Liberty about joining conference.

C-USA, trying to stay viable, is talking to New Mexico St, UConn and Liberty about joining conference. Talk about desperation. Talking to three schools that have no connection to each other and likely not much to the current remaining teams. Read an opinion awhile back that is becoming more accurate with each passing event in the realignment. The opinion was that the G5 conferences need to blown up and reorganized on a regional basis.
