The Big Ten is going for four more PAC 12 teams. I get going for Washington, Oregon, and Stanford. But why Cal? Their football and basketball are mostly bad. Stanford will bring in most of the audience for the bay area already.

Remember when the Big 12 asked the Pac-12 to merge and the Pac 12 said "Nope"....Yikes! Well Cal, Stanford, Oregon State, and Wazzu will join the mountain West which isn't that bad

I've said this before, but I think Washington is better off not taking an invite than to take one that is not a full share. That would mean having to compete in a league where everybody else is getting more money and also spending less on travel. It's a recipe for disaster -- as Rutgers and Maryland have found out.

So with Oregon and Washington to the Big 10, does this mean the conference championship in football is held in the Rose Bowl each year?

Big Ten volleyball has certainly gotten bigger. This is probably great for Nebraska and Wisconsin and other top programs - but is going to be a blood bath for most of the conference. I *think* this is going to hurt some of those programs in the middle - whatever the middle of the conference becomes.
And what happens to Stanford - Independent in VB doesn't work with the way they run schedules. And playing a conference schedule with what is left of the PAC and some schools in the Mountain West isn't going to be good for them. USC/UCLA are within driving distance of Stanford - so those can be 1st/2nd round matchups in the future.
Knocking out the PAC brings in more opportunity for seeds - but will the Big Ten with RPI be able to absorb most of this? I wouldn't assume this.

The Big 10 track and field championships at Hayward Field. Insanity.
I said it before, but the if there's going to be 18 or 20 teams, then I really think VB should just do a 17 or 19 game true single round robin. Yes, it sucks that there's no home and homes, and you won't be able to see some marquee programs some years. But, you only have to wait a year.

I still say it was a big mistake for Oregon and Washington to agree to join a conference where they are now at a big financial disadvantage compared to their new conference foes. They should have held out either for full shares or just worked with the rest of the PAC. Better to get less money but not be second-class in your own conference.
If the reports are true, they are going to be about $200M in the hole compared to the teams they will be directly competing against over the next six years. Bad idea.

The Big 10 track and field championships at Hayward Field. Insanity. Every year. Permanent host. They HAVE to!

If we're really gonna do this, can we at least re-name the conferences to something more fitting? The Big 10 hasn't been the big 10 for over a decade, and same thing for the Big 12.

Right-hand pinky "Shift" Left-hand index "B" Right-hand pinky "release Shift" Left-hand pinky "1" Right-hand pinky "Shift" Left-hand index "G" I actually don't mind the sequence. But it is odd to look at, unless you know what it is. 🤷♂️
