I "dig" this divisional alignment. I don't think that's the actual Manhattan Kansas skyline though.

It’s in the works. Stanford and Notre Dame. B1G 20 False......Notre Dame would choose the SEC over the Big 10 reason being "Butts in seats" No matter who they were playing sec fan bases are passionate and travel even if they don't get tickets

I have heard someone here say North/South Divisions - but I think this East/West is more likely if they do divisions. But I don't think they will do divisions. And that isn't Lawernce's skyline either.

I think this report can be accurate and deceiving at the same time. It wouldn't take much for the Arizona President to make this call - but in not being representative of the rest of the conference. I don't think this was the direction Oregon and Washington wanted now that they have landed in the Big Ten.

I wouldn’t be surprised if UT and OU move to the Big 10 someday. It’s what I’d prefer, and I know I’m not alone. We’ll see what happens when the ACC breaks apart. I think as long as a school is in one or the other conference they’ll be fine. And if they’re in the Big 12 they’ll at least be sitting at the adult table, even if it’s at the very end.

There is definitely a chance, lol. The SEC is by far the best football conference, and Notre Dame has bent over backwards to not join the Big Ten. I think Notre Dame strongly prefers to stay independent, and the Big Ten has basically come off as stalkerish toward them. I'm not saying they would never join the Big Ten, but I think it's absolutely laughable to suggest that they wouldn't at least think about the SEC. I think there's also close to zero chance that Oklahoma would move to the Big Ten over the SEC. Again, why leave the best conference? Not sure on Texas, but that seems unlikely to me as well. Edit: obviously, if the Big Ten starts ripping off a ton of national titles, and SEC football goes into decline, that would change things. But based on the way things currently are and what they're likely to be in the near future, leaving the SEC for the Big Ten seems rather foolish.

I think there's also close to zero chance that Oklahoma would move to the Big Ten over the SEC. Again, why leave the best conference? Not sure on Texas, but that seems unlikely to me as well. OU practically begged the Big 10 to bring it in for years. Longtime President David Boren made no efforts to hide it. If they get a chance in the future to join the conference, they're going to leap at it. The key thing is they want to stick with UT for the rivalry game in Dallas and to preserve their recruiting grounds in Texas. The main draw for the SEC is the commissioner gave assurances they'd be accepted, and that deliberations would be done in private to prevent legislatures in Oklahoma and Texas from interfering, while the Big 10 insisted on transparency, and a few schools weren't too sure about actually adding them. IMO, the addition of USC/UCLA which subsequently led to the additions of Washington and Oregon, were about FOMO. Fox and the Big 10 did not want to see SEC/ESPN add USC/UCLA, and so the deliberations were private and then announced fait accompli. Which is not how the process was described to UT/OU when they inquired. There is no chance UCLA is allowed to go by the California Board of Regents unless that deal is seen as done already. I know Notre Dame would prefer to remain independent, but if/when they join a conference, it will be the Big 10, not the SEC. 100%. They will not seriously consider the SEC. Academics are very important to them. Same reason UT will eventually go to the Big 10 if given an opportunity as well. Especially now that they've separated themselves from the other in state schools that had political leverage over them.

The B1G travels as well. Yes, that 2000 game against Nebraska was a sell out. As were all the other Notre Dame home games that year. I don't think Notre Dame needs the B1G or SEC to help it sell tickets.

I just cannot believe ND doesn't join the B1G because of some ambiguous fight decades ago. That is just terrible decision making if so. If someone is making the decision based on that, they should be fired immediately.
I CAN believe ND wants their football team to play whomever they want, that they want to keep rivalries intact, and that they don't want to share revenue or dilute their brand. I do wonder if there will come a time when that brand's clothes start to wear a little thin - but it will take a long while for alumni donors to admit to that.

Objectively, the SEC is a way better football conference than the Big Ten.
