Really psyched to see this matchup in person this week. Husker faithful: weigh in on whether you anticipate a different lineup from my above guess. A bunch of stuff in red and orange in the OP is linked to entries in the team sites, so mouse over them for those links. I’d anticipate Sun starting. Her attacking was better than anything Batenhorst has done in the past 5 matches, and she adds blocking. I’ll be surprised if Ally starts. Thanks for the insight! Yeah, I thought Sun was pretty aggressive in the Minnesota match. Looked confident out there.

My thanks too for the thread and nice OP! Nice! Safe travels to Chambana and back!

Sun might have an edge, but much will depend upon how practice goes this week, and Cook likely won't talk until the last minute. I find it hard to understand how Ally could play so well against Penn St. and then literally fall apart in the following games? ? We badly need another Krause !!!

Hopefully Illinois can focus from the beginning of the match and maintain the focus throughout the entire match. Iowa, Northwestern and Rutgers all followed a pattern. Lose a close first set, handily win the 2d and 3d sets, lapse in the 4th set and handily win the 5th set, although Rutgers in the 5th set was closer than either Iowa or NW. Illinois has been listless in the first set in all too many matches this year. Maybe they are dismissive of weaker teams until the reality hits and they discover that even the “weak” teams in the B1G are pretty good. This should not be a problem against Nebraska.

You're welcome! Looks like this one is an 8PM Central start. It's the late game carried on BTN Thursday night. I hate the late games; I get to wound up to get too sleep!

And here we go again, another YUGE opportunity for the Fighting Illini.

Old Man, Thanks for the reply -- was worried about you since I hadn't seen many posts from you lately. At least Nebraska should be very hungry for a win given what has happened recently. This could be another nail biter, hair falling out, acid reflux type of match. I'm going to try to remain calm throughout and respect my furniture.

Her attacking was better than anything Batenhorst has done in the past 5 matches, and she adds blocking. I’ll be surprised if Ally starts. Sun should start. Batenhorst has disappeared since Penn St match. Plus, regardless what Cook decides, it seems Hanes does not trust Ally to terminate. I just watched 1st set of Neb vs Minnesota and Hanes set Ally 3 times when ball was in system and one of those was questionable whether Hanes had another option based off of where the pass brought her. In the first 2-3 points of Set 2 where Krause was in the rotation where she is string side hitter, Hanes sets her 3 times in system. Sun comes in later and Hanes will set Sun at times in system and she has options. Basically, Cook should switch to Sun as I am guessing people far smarter than me can see Hanes is not setting Ally unless no other option so easier to defend other options on court. It seems Hanes trusts Kubik, Krause the most then Stiverns on the slide, kayla hitting out of middle or maybe a bit of a 31 and when Sun plays, she will go to Sun but based on her sets lately when she gets a good pass and has options, Hanes rarely sets Ally.
