Nunerviller has her ups and downs offensively, and tends to weaken as the match progresses. I'm used to seeing Oregon outrun their headlights, but in this match, Stanford was the deer in the headlights. Typically pretty quiet here but--Tends to weaken as the match progresses???... she has literally carried the team in the last parts of numerous matches. Far from weakening, (aside from time with a baseball sized ankle that she played through) Nunneviller has an extra gear that regularly shows up in crunch time. Much respect. Just checked Oregon's last 5 5 setters (CU, USC, UW, Stanford, ASU) - Nuneviller had 21 kills - 4.2 kps. So she's higher than her season average (3.65 kps) in those end of match situations... even though 5th sets only go to 15.

From an Oregon fan's perspective, your statement might make some sense, but from a pure volleyball perspective, she's undersized, has trouble with a big or well-formed block, and after 20 or so swings (setting issues aside), she can struggle (e.g., the Utah match). That doesn't mean she's not a gamer or not a key part of Oregon's success, but it's true.

Agree with the other posters that I rarely see Nuneviller “weaken” as matches go on….other than the Penn St/Minnesota weekend when she had literally rolled her ankle the day before. In numerous other matches, this year and last, she starts slower and then really takes over the match in the 4th or 5th set (thinking specifically of Washington last spring, Rice and ASU this fall, I’m sure C4 can help me with others??). But I haven’t seen a slow down based on number of swings, and certainly not a number as low as 20 attempts. The Utah losses had very little to do w Nuneviller’s hitting….

She has very good stats, but the PAC has one team in the top ten this year. I'm certainly not saying that she's a bad player. I'm simply suggesting that I think this is a case where her potential as an outside beyond college is limited.

That statement is also consistent with everything else I've said.

That statement is also consistent with everything else I've said. I think the point was you started by saying she fades during games with over 20 swings and now suddenly it’s about how strong the PAC is or whether she can play OH after college. Those are different issues. But I also disagree with the assessment of her as a straight ahead attacker with little variety. If you watch a lot of Oregon games (and I do) she has great court vision and scores lots of points by placement over power. Which requires a variety of shots.

Announcers like to say that a lot about her (which is part of what prompted my initial post). But court vision as a defender vs as an attacker at or above the net are different things. She does have great athleticism and reflexes, but that's also different from shot variety, and I don't see that kind of adjustment to the block that really great attackers have. She obviously has some of the beachy shots too, but I don't think they're that particularly well developed either. I'm sure it sounds like I'm crapping on her, but I don't mean it that way. She's having a great year, and she has lots of time to develop but I am (and was) approaching it from the prospective view.
