How come Endsley played better spring? I don’t think it’s a setting issue, seems like she’s more tentative this fall. Also I hope Cole moves on after this year so that we can use up her schollie. It's a good question (re: Endsley) and I'm sure if Cook & Co knew the answer, we'd either see a lot more of Madi or a lot less. Maybe just chalk it up to sophomore (or second season) slump. I agree that half the battle, or more, is mental. She is questioning what she is doing at the net. You could see she was displeased with a lot of her own net play last night. To me, that's a good sign, a recognition that she knows she is capable of better. She really did get hold of a few sets, however, and that heavy arm is something to behold. Like I said before, I think she needs more game experience. If she can improve in the AZ match, that will be a good sign. The commentator mentioned that Endsley has been working on her all around game. I wonder if that distracted her from her offense duty.

So classless, they were yelling Sianna's name too & overall just being completely unsportsmanlike on all UW serves. I also can't believe Sanja allows her team to do that kind of crap. Why do you consider it classless? I wasn't at the match, so I don't know what exactly they were yelling. But I thought those kind of engagement from the bench was innocent and sometimes fun as long as it wasn't personal attacks. They would yell the individual player’s name over and over and tell them to mess up serving. It seemed to work as a few players, including EMP, served into the net. I don’t think it’s classless albeit a bit juvenile. I wouldn’t even have done this in high school. Usually benches make noise during the serve but never yelling a player’s name over and over and making snide remarks.

Bush was in a tshirt and leggings for warmups and wasn’t in the hitting lines. At the end of the game I saw some kind of wrap over her hip

Did you actually see Bush take hitting practice? I didn't see the entire warmup, but she was just shagging balls (along with Emma Calle and Maeve Griffin) when other Huskies were taking hitting practice while I was watching. Hence my conclusion that she likely has a minor injury. By "in warm-ups" I meant she was wearing warm-ups.

Don't get excited. You can think whatever you want Mike. I frankly don't give a %*$#. Lauren Bays is the real deal for a libero and I frankly don't give a %*$# if you care or not. I’m pretty sure Mike wasn’t hating on Bays, he was wondering what you thought of Miyashiro (a standout libero) and McPherson (ok, all things considered). Frankly he should have also mentioned Orlandini. The point is that Washington has had quality players don the L jersey since Lee. Cassie Strickland could make a play or two…

She brings a tremendous amount of energy onto the court and is taking over the defensive leadership aspects of the libero position.

One observation during warmups was that none of the ASU serves had any float to them, while the UW serves mostly had < 1 rotation during travel. That continued throughout the match and I think made a big difference in the match. A jump float without float is just a weaker jump serve.

That was one of the best points of the season. How about Sam's dig midway through? It was fun to see the players' faces after this one -- they all looked like they'd just run a marathon. And I think it took all the gas out of ASU. They were already down 14-5 but were fighting to get back in the set...and when you persevere through a 70-second rally with save after save after save---and then lose the point. Ouch.

UW looking good. It's the first match I've seen this season and my first thought is I like Lauren Bays, we may have a true Libero since Candace Lee. This team has improved on defense for sure and with Claire, Sam, Grote, and Sanders delivering on defense and offense is great. I do have to say I am very proud of Lauren Sanders, she is from my little home town of Snohomish, Washington. Go Huskies! You don't think OLYMPIAN Tamari Miyashiro was a "true libero"? I also thought Shayne McPherson was quite good. We have had some good libero's over the years but I don't feel we have had true great ones and that's just my opinion. Candace Lee helped us win our only national championship and I feel over the years this position has been lacking at times. We have great offensive weapons but without the defense how are we going to get a championship again? Why are we at times turning outside hitters into Libero's? In recent years we have seen Strickland and Crenshaw go from outside to Libero and I ask why when we have defensive specialist on the roster and they are not being utilized? What is the point in recruiting them if they are not going to help our team? What I saw last night in Lauren Bays was great promise that I have not seen in awhile, I think she has great potential and that makes me excited for our team. I feel she has the talent to be a great Libero and again that is just my opinion. In all honesty Mike, I do appreciate your input into the game but the truth is, sometimes I find your comments to posters as off putting and or condescending at times and I was just posting how happy I was and then you came back with the comment of Shayne, and while I respect that you thought a lot of her, she was good but wasn't great. That's the good thing about this board, it's a opinion board and we are all allowed our opinions and we may not always agree. I am sorry if I offended you, we just may have different opinions and that is fine. Have a good day:-)

I thought Lauren Bays was pretty fantastic back there (in serve-receive). A lot of balls came her way and she was ready for it and responded and kept the ball on our side of the net. I thought the serve-and-pass was in our favor from the very beginning, and you're going to win a lot of matches when that happens."

I am sorry if I offended you, we just may have different opinions and that is fine. Have a good day:-) LOL. You immediately turned my comment about other good liberos into a personal attack against me, then doubled and tripled down on it. And now you "are sorry if you offended me"? Whatever. I had already written it off to you just having a bad day or drunk-posting or something, but please leave off with the non-apology apologies. Anyway, I'm moving on.
