Purdue would deserve the 4 seed and I would be super happy for them!

I'm just saying that the badgers have had their share of injuries from the start of the B1G season. Hart was lost just before the Maryland match. Civita was lost the next week before the Minnesota match, but came back for PSU and OSU, only to get hurt again in the Purdue match in an entirely different way. Since then the badgers have tried to incorporate Jade Demps to get a backrow attack to compensate for the poorer passing. It's a work in progress. Today is the first time it actually looked decent. In the end I don't think any of that will matter to any NCAA committee. Purdue has a claim to the seed from the B1G, but I don't think the injury situation will matter, just as I don't think anyone will give the badgers a pass on their injury situation. They have to win the B1G - or at least tie. Purdue are on the hairy edge. If they lose to Nebraska, they are most likely out of the top four. who wins the most these last three weeks decides seed and it may not be conference champ?? I actually think Purdue has to win out for that to happen. That is my point. They cannot get top seed in the B1G from two matches down in the standings, which is what would likely happen if they lost to Nebraska. A loss to Michigan would be worse. Purdue is very very good, but they are carrying the weight of some losses, and we are too focussed on what happened this weekend versus a banged up UW team in transition and a Minnesota team which is very idiosyncratic and missing a major OH. The last two weeks will tell. If they win out, I'm not sure what happens.

Purdue is at #8 currently according to figstats. The gap between Texas at 4 and Purdue is likely too large to overcome at this point.
All the credit to Purdue for being able to go on runs and dominate in sets 1 and 3 and also in closing out set 4. That block touch reversal was huge, but seemed to be the proper call.
Awesome match from Samedy today, but it never fails that they feed her too much at the end of sets and good opponents are ready for it.

Purdue was the best visiting team that has played at the Pav this season, and, yes, that includes Texas.
Congrats, Purdue. Finish strong and get that #4 seed.

This is Shaffmaster's worst game in quite a while. I agree. Too many sets were too low or in back of the hitter.

Not samedy's finest match but her outside's aren't helping her at all. What the actual??? It was the best she's played this season. It was not the best she's played. She was not trusting the sets, for good reason, and gave too many easy free balls. Missed some digs too. Easily still the best player on the court, but she has played better in a lot of matches in those scramble rallies we struggled with tonight.

I also agree that the setting was too low and off tonight. But Samedy still found a way to score, while others still struggled to adjust to the setting.
Sure.....it probably wasn't Samedy's better games. But, in all seriousness, where would this Gopher Volleyball team be in the standings without her? She's had to carry a huge weight on her shoulder's much of the season to keep this team in matches (hitting, digging, serving and some times setting). Who will fill her role next season?
Congrats to Purdue. They were definitely the better ALL AROUND team tonight and deserved the win. Sure hope they do well in the post season. It is time for their program to shine.

Kudos, Purdue. What a road trip! Glad MN could find a way back in after being slaughtered in the first set. I've said it before - tournament will be crazy - Purdue as a non-Top 4 seed; teams like PSU and Stanford as floaters. Jesus.

I didn't see much of the game, but what I did see didn't surprise me. First off, hats off to Purdue. They are playing better than any other BIG team right now. They are a balanced team that is a Final 4 threat. As for the Gophers, the same old problems exist. Hugh's a great coach, but I'm ticked off that he didn't grab an athletic MB from the transfer portal as it was clear that was a need. Maybe his hands were tied. This is a nice team, but Samedy deserved better for her final season. I'm hoping that Hugh will go portal shopping for next season. Get an athletic MB and a reliable DS (who doesn't mi%*$# every other ball). Please!

She played better at Florida and vs. Stanford at Oregon. If that wasn't good enough for you, not sure what the hell you are looking for. You're wrong, period.

We’ll have Booth in here next season and I wouldn’t be shocked if he rolls with Rubright/Husemann over Wolf and Booth. As for DS, not a chance. I would be SHOCKED if Hugh has anyone other than CC/Kilkelly starting next year. Although I agree with you on both points, I don’t think that’s the kind of coach Hugh is.

Taking nothing away from Purdue; they're good & a refreshing sight to see in the BIG. But I feel MN's effort was shockingly paltry. They went into the match tied for first place but didn't even show up for set 1; that set was essentially over after the first 10 pt; Samedy made 6 of their 12 pt for the set. What if she hadn't been playing, 25-6? Set 3: MN was up 12-6 & then kinda went flat & disappeared from the set. Difficult to fathom. Set 4: They had the lead at 22-21 and failed to score again. It was to be expected the Gophers would come on court from the start, fired-up & determined to take the play to Purdue. Only Purdue seemed to really want a win. The Gophers indifferent play took their own home crowd out of the game. A blessing that Samedy was on court.

Best part of this match for Gopher fans was the 25 alumni there spanning 5 decades and video messages from 4 who couldn't be there. Daly Santana from Puerto Rico, Alexis Hart from Germany, Sarah Wilhite from Japan and Lauren Gibbenmeyer from Sweden (6 months pregnant - congrats!)
