I might change my prediction.
I always feel a lot better playing a team coming off a big win then a tough loss.
But man is that a huge result… Gophs control their own path to the B1G title now.. although their remaining schedule is tough to say the least.

I hope MN works on their BiQs and D attacks in practice on Saturday because I do not believe the Purdue middles are going to pay much attention to Myers & Rubright without provocation. Even when lightly contested neither MB has shown consistent terminal velocity. What would be great would be their ability to close blocks on the pins. Rubright did perk up offensively in Iowa, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that this heretofore secret weapon is ready to be unleashed Based on the way Purdue dismantled Wisconsin on their left side we will need to counter with a good back row attack and, importantly... Vary the set location. In particular when Bush is front row blocking on the right hitting line and tooling off of her hands. Run quicker sets so Purdue can't close their block. Wisconsin was unable to do that Friday night, partly because their first contacts weren't that good. Bush is a great setter and I think Shaff is going to demonstrate she is capable too. More pace, more float, and deep into the court serving will help.
Not sure why but the Purdue team reminds of the Oregon squad that ended SSS's career at Minnesota. I believe we were the better team, but were beaten by the team that played better. If the Gophers can stay composed and get the job done it could be a signature win if Purdue continues running hot.
I will predict that the team with the best sideout% will prevail.

I will predict that the team with the best sideout% will prevail. Groundbreaking MSU outhit PSU but PSU won Pitt outhit Louisville but Louisville won. First ball sideout is great but you can lose on that stat Keeping your opp from runs and winning the sideout% stat is where it's at. What wisdom do you bring to the discussion? Do you have access to data/stats on the most important metrics? I'd like to know what the chances of winning are if you lose vis a vis sideout% You can be noncompetitive in 2 sets and win the other three in close ones, but how often does that happen?

Just a small point of clarification, the Gophers controlled their path before the Wisconsin loss last night. That Wisconsin loss just gave more possibility to an outright title instead of a co-title. Nebraska and Wisconsin also control their own paths.

I think if Shaff is on, Gophers have a chance. The team has been clicking really well. I have confidence in our pins to find a way to score against the big block of Purdue even if our offense gets a little predictable, but they’re going to need sets with great location and perfectly timed to do it. Predictable offense + great setting + imposing Purdue block, pin hitters have a good chance. Diverse offense + okay setting + imposing Purdue block, pin hitters have a good chance. Predictable offense + poor set location and timing + imposing Purdue block, pin hitters are going to struggle to score.
I think a lot of the success can the gophers’ side of the net will depend on Shaff. Seeing her knee brace off and making some athletic plays on Thursday is giving me hope that she’s going to have another good match 🙂

This one already felt like a massive match but now the temperature has been turned up a few degrees.

Interesting! Must be my Minnesota pessimism lol in sets decided by 2 points, whereas the Gophers are 5-10. Hard to believe there can be another top 10 team with a record like that
