This will be another 5 setter like last season. These two teams know each other very well. Very happy that this match will be on TV!

This is one of those very rare times when you might be wrong! I am wrong all the time but Purdue is undefeated in November

Justafanmn said: I think a lot of the success can the gophers’ side of the net will depend on Shaff. Seeing her knee brace off and making some athletic plays on Thursday is giving me hope that she’s going to have another good match 🙂First contact passing will be a key no matter how mobile Shaff might be. Dodger asked: what’s first ball sideout have to do with sideout %??When I am at the Pav and pick up a results sheet after a set ends the output on the sideline includes sideout%. But most livestat pdfs after matches do not include them. Sideout% is so key. This study from European leagues is instructive: The First Ball Sideout Percentage (FBSO%) is the percentage of reception attempts after which a team scores at the first opportunity. This generally shows the efficiency of a team’s sideout phase (ie the combination of reception, setting and attack). As we can see from the graph this is pretty closely related to overall sideout percentage, the better the FBSO%, the better the overall SO%. marklebedew.com/2018/01/26/analysis-of-top-5-leagues-sideout-part-2/This link gets into the nitty gritty: blog.spolytics.com/what-is-the-difference-between-first-ball-side-out-fbso-and-side-out-so/An opponent's service error boosts your sideout percentage, but not your FBSO% I don't know what the cost is to obtain these analytics but they are certainly beyond the budget of the casual fan. I hope you weren't being facetious

Anyone who thinks stats are a reason to do anything without understanding the basis for those numbers, well, can't help you there.

Looking forward to seeing Purdue at the Pav today. So very athletic. If you had the B1G volleyball teams play some other random sports, I think I would take Purdue to win.
Grace Cleveland is on my list of favorite (non-Gopher) players in the B1G to watch.
Despite that, Boilermakers have a difficult time smashing Gophers with their sledgehammers. It is harder than Whac-A-Mole!!
GOPHERS IN FOUR!

Traffic/parking in Dinkytown is awful today. It’s always bad but this is the most backed up I’ve seen it for a vball game this year..
