This season feels like an 0-3 end and a 2nd round loss to, like, Creighton. Don't write Nebraska off! I would be shocked if that’s how Nebraska’s season would end. They are a proud program with experience in the post season. I hope they go very far!

This season feels like an 0-3 end and a 2nd round loss to, like, Creighton. Obviously Nebraska has Rutgers in there somewhere, but I understand what you're saying. Based on the last two (or even three) matches, one doesn't see victories vs Penn State, Wisconsin, or Purdue. Losing 3 of the last 4 matches probably puts Nebraska in the 12-16 seed range for the tourney i.e. hosting on the first weekend, but playing someone in the 17-20 range in the 2nd match. Creighton fits the bill. Normally Nebraska is rounding into form at this time of year, but it's been awhile since a Husker volleyball team has been in this much disarray at this point of the season. Pulling Kubik today exemplifies the disorder the team is undergoing. Hames being untouchable is not helping matters. I hope I'm wrong and obviously hope for the best. But these last two matches have been a reality check and not in a good way.

The first three serves of the match, Nebraska served out. This was a sign of what was going to follow.
The worst point of the match for me was in the first set when Hames didn’t move out of the way of a freeball for someone else to pick up and just stood there and got hit by the ball.

While I don’t think Hames is bad she does do this awkward leaning thing after she sets. I’m not sure if it affects her technically but it just looks weird. Major credit to her defensively! She would be a great DS.

Wow! 27 hitting errors (11 of them blocks by Indiana, which only made 14 errors). With Minnesota's loss to the Spoilermakers, Nebraska is back to controlling their own destiny. Wisconsin has the same opportunity. Who's going to hold serve or will both fall giving Purdue and Minnesota another chance? It's a bit strange how Purdue has been the giant killers but have stumbled against lower tier teams, MSU and Illinois. I'd have to say Purdue is the best team in the Big right now. I hope the Huskers prove me wrong in the final stretch of the season, and tournament.

The absolutely crazy thing is that we’re actually in the race for the big championship. How does that happen when you’re playing like the huskers? At critical moments, somebody steps up and you win ugly. How is Wisky still in the race after a loss to the Terps? This just in, your personal concern for the program, criticism , or praise have zero affect on the outcome of this season.

Is Orr still eligible for a red shirt? If she is then I certainly wouldn't burn it at this point in the season.

A redshirt in volleyball is different than in football where you can play in parts of 4 games and still be eligible. In volleyball, you play in one match your redshirt is burned. The only exception I know of is in the case of an injury and then you can apply for a medical redshirt. Szabo was the last medical redshirt I remember in Huskerland. Hart from Wisconsin will probably be eligible for a medical redshirt this year. So whether Kennedi Orr plays or not has no bearing on her remaining eligibility. One might think it's probably too late in the season to be swapping out setters, but then Cook was been yanking out pins and middles routinely. Why Hames appears to be untouchable is unclear to me. If you want to point out one primary factor in Nebraska's sluggish offense, it would be the inconsistent setting of Nicklin Hames.

And you are right, if Orr isn't going to redshirt then get her in there. Hames is a setting struggle bus these days. Elite defender, not an elite setter. Reminds me when Nikki Stricker never got taken out when a superior Christy Johnson was sitting the bench.

Is Orr still eligible for a red shirt? If she is then I certainly wouldn't burn it at this point in the season. Since she already appeared in matches earlier this season, the only way she would be eligible to redshirt is if they somehow claim and prove she suffered a season-ending injury. That seems rather unlikely since she is fully involved in the warmups at every recent match.

Sometimes I don't get Cook's reasoning. Launstein was thermonuclear in the match earlier in the week and she didn't even make an appearance at Indiana?

The problem is you don't know where it's going. Yes, her time will come.
