Just going to add this…a week from today no one outside the B1G wants to see any of the top 6 B1G teams in their portion of the NCAA bracket. This is going to be a great year in the tournament for the B1G. . . We’ll see how it goes. 🍿🍿🍿🏐 Definitely...how cool would it be to get an All-Big-Ten Final Four?

1/6/16 for Minny's middles. This is why they don't belong in the top 10. Excited about next years Badgers team. Demps is really coming on, a lineup of Orzol, Wrobel, Robinson/smrek/demps (RS/MB) is exciting. Agreed. The thing is, Minnesota's middles aren't bad either...Myers was All Big Ten two years ago hitting .395. Shaff just can't connect with the middles and it'll prevent Minnesota from going deep IMO. This might be true if the middles could terminate overpasses, but they can’t do that either, which leads me to think it doesn’t have much to do with Shaff..

Not a single Big Ten team has anywhere near the poor middle connection we do. It's Schaff. It always has been. She can't set a middle, with any kind of consistency.

I think it’s a little bit of both the middles and Shaff. But you can tell the middles have little confidence in being offensive.

OK maybe she can’t set the middle but point is the middles just aren’t very athletic. How many times did the middles get blocked or hit out on an overpass tonight? A lot. An overpass is supposed to be a free kill lol That has nothing to do with Shaff. Pittman was way more productive last year and Shaff was definitely worse then…

I asked this earlier, but I don't think anybody responded: is there any reason (other than Hugh being stubborn, etc) that Minnesota doesn't run a 5-2 offense? When I said they should run a 6-2 earlier in the season, people pointed out that though mean Samedy couldn't be a true opposite. Point taken. But a 5-2 accomplishes much the same and still leaves Samedy in place. Is there something I'm not considering, etc? (I got to thinking of it again the other day when I saw Mich State had switched to a 5-2 recently.)

I think the word you're looking for is POWERFUL. They are a starting middle blocker for a top team in the B1G, they are athletic. They just don't have the power, or connection, yet. It will be on the coaches radar for sure, so hopefully it can be developed more in the off season.

Myers had “the power” when she was at Maryland.. but now she can’t even put away an overpass. What a confusing situation… Hopefully Booth can save us but I have no confidence Hugh will even give her a chance

Everyone was gushing about Samedy on this thread and nobody mentioned Miyabe. I was having a hard time comprehending that, since I had not followed the entire match and my only information was Live Stats. They had Miyabe with 31 kills and Samedy with 20 and Wenaas (15). I finally went out and found the actual stats on another site and discovered Miyabe had the 15 and Wenaas 20, and Samedy had 31. Then all the praise for Samedy made sense. With this loss, Minnesota is now eliminated from a chance for a share of the Big 10 title. They're only down 2 with 2 to play, but Nebraska and Wisconsin play each other and thus one cannot lose both matches. Purdue, on the other hand, can make it a 3 way champion situation if Nebraska somehow upsets Wisconsin and the Spoilermakers tip over the Huskers. The latter is quite possible the way Purdue is playing and the former seems almost impossible since Nebraska has been swept by the Badgers the last 4 matches (and lost 6 straight). It has been an interesting race. It's not inconceivable that the national champion will be a Big 10 team that didn't even win the conference.

Such a heartbreaking loss, that could have easily gone the Gophers way, yet we were also fortunate to have a set 4.
Another epic battle, between two B1G powers and the PAV was rocking.
If that is the last match for Stephanie Samedy at the PAV we certainly got our moneys worth and saw one of her finest performances of her career. Can't even comprehend what she has meant to this program, kudos to Sheffield.
For the Badgers Jade Demps was the difference maker tonight. It appeared as if the Gophers had no answer for her and was quite the surprise attacker. Barnes also had a special match. I agree with the Badgers fan who will be happy not to see this group of Wisconsin seniors again.
The bad challenge by Hugh was mystifying. Shaffmaster even told him it hit her arm, so not sure why he still challenged with that knowledge.
The Senior presentation was also pretty cool, all of the seniors tearing up and nice tributes from their teammates.

A question for someone who was there in person, if you don't mind: When Wisconsin has their 'senior day', before the match they always take a minute to recognize the seniors of the opposing team during pre-match lineup announcements. Nothing big, just a mention and some flowers etc. And I've always wondered if that's something other teams do. Of course I recognize that dong so for a rival like Wisconsin might take it to 'another level', but that might make it all the more appropriate. So, anything like that today? Thanks.

Yes, Hugh gave the Wisconsin seniors roses and they were all recognized and received applause from the fans.
