WARNNG: Pet Peeve Rant. I loathe how the media allows corporations to get free pub with stadium and arena naming rights. Okay, if Safeco or Key Bank decide to buy naming rights for a sports arena, great. Put your sign up. But the media should NOT call that stadium by the corporate brand name all the time - especially when it's a company that deliberately misspells a word (looking at you, Qwest). And now, even VTers are falling victim?!? The Apple Cup is the ####ing Apple Cup. It is not the "Apple Cup Boeing Series." Maybe spend your money on building safe airplanes instead of buying off government regulators and naming sporting events. End. (UW needs to start fast and put down the hammer. Can't give WSU any chance.)[/quotetomcle Tomclen nailed it. I call it Mariners ballpark and Seahawks stadium. Or simply the baseball yard and football stadium. Even simply calling it the hawks nest makes sense. The logical reason is this: who the hell can keep track of what company has the naming rights to a stadium or arena in whatever city? This female announcer is insufferable. She speaks like her counterpart has no knowledge about volleyball..while she is often biased one team when commentating.
